So... here I am trying to build the SPx set (yes, I'm one of those old-school-types who likes to build sets) and I'm getting a fairly full set so far. But darned if those Flashback Fabrics aren't killing me with their pricing... $265 for a Robitaille the other day! $455 for a Beliveau! Holy carp (EDIT: "carp"???? Good lord, I'm talking in fish speak now!)...

Here's my conundrum (sp?)... I just cracked a case and pulled a wicked card - Gretzky All-Star Flashback Fabric! So I go to upper deck's website and it says there's only 9 redemptions of which only 5 are redeemed - the shortest print in the whole set!!! I'm sure I could get serious $$ for the card, but if I sell it could I ever replace it if I get the $$ to buy the rest of the flashbacks? What to do... what to do...

Thoughts anyone?

Keep it :)

you dont have to rush the set into completion, take your time, and finish the set whenever you get all the funds you need.

that being said, if you find yourself giving up on the set later on, and you want to sell your gretzky, itll get even more coin as it probably would not have surfaced in the last year, so everyone will try and pounce on that one

Good advice... problem is I already have three sets I'm trying to complete and it's taking me FOREVER... I suppose I'm experienced at waiting though, eh? ;) Thanks.

Agree completely with Dave. You've got the best Flashback card from the set. You didn't mention how many you were missing total, but if you sell the Gretz you may never see another one. I can pretty much guarantee that there are more than 9 people out there building the set. Think how much coin you'd have to drop say a year from now (assuming one turned up) and 8 of the 9 have already been redeemed...

Just because the website shows 9 redemptions doesn't mean there were only 9 copies. Some of those cards had live copies, as well as redemptions... probably because UD didn't have enough stickers in hand at the time of packout.

It really depends how committed you are to doing the set. If you are dead set on completing it, then keep the Gretzky and be prepared to pay through the nose for the others. If you are not sure about the set, then sell the Gretzky.

Jason's on the money here with every point. I am a set builder too and that would be a heck of a set if you get it done. I say keep the Gretzky since it is the most expensive card you will have to pick up. Mike

Thanks guys... pretty much what I was thinking to do. Gotta sell a lung or my left arm to raise the funds since I blew most of my cash on getting the regular cards and WMs & WCs for the ****ed set. By the way, if any of you need cards to the set, I have a whack of doubles on my trade list! Thanks.
