Verified Trader,
Spx pricing is available on Beckett for those of you that care.
sadly .. ebay.. and for the record, Beckett may be frowned upon but you would be surprised how many people still refer to it. I see it all the time at shows and the expo.
Yes, many people at the expo were selling based on beckett prices, which was why many people didn't have strong sales. So many cards were overpriced at the expo my brother and I had quite the laugh about it.
I last bought one several years ago. It really hasn't troubled me. I go by a really simple rule: If I think the price is fair, I buy. Anything else? Counteroffer or walk away. Works remarkably well.
For those that do not think Beckett has any influence on today's hobby. All you have to do is watch eBay sales of new product when it is first released.Than watch sales immediately after Beckett releases the new pricing on said product.Prices obtained are in some cases cut in half. Is it just a coincidence, maybe. But I believe they are related.Once collectors see what cards are listed for than their willingness to spend is reduced.
