Anyone else terribly disappointed with SPx this year? I did a 16 box case. Admittedly, I may be a bit negative because my case was lackluster. Even so, the number of redemptions, design, content, etc... I give it a C- at best. Anyone else have an opinion on this one?

Looks to be a lot of base jersey hits that really don't move the needle much. I think the cards are nice enough but unless you hit a good auto rookie (McDavid, Panarin, Larkin (maybe the Domi because of it being lower than the others)), or luck into something SSP'd like the RC Patch parallels, you're going to take a beating most of the time.

Oh wow, I'm glad someone finally posted this. I opened only two boxes, so I didn't want to say anything... But then I checked a couple cases opened online, and I don't think I saw a single box worth the selling price in those cases...

Seriously, I don't know how Upper Deck can get away with selling 130$CAD boxes with a couple base jerseys and a jersey/auto of a low profile rookie... Everything in this product stinks. I sincerely hope this isn't a sign of the rest of the products to come this year.

To me it feels like UD is heavily banking on McDavid. Basically, seems like no Connor, no value...

I haven't opened any, but from what iv'e been seeing, it's UGLY,

I do like how they brought back the 05-06 design, thats the only PRO i can think of at the moment.

i have to admit i've been patiently waiting for this discussion to start,so thanks for the invitation to rant!
SPX is an utter disaster this year.after seeing multiple online breaks and a bunch more case/box breaks at the lcs,i cannot, for the life of me ,see wtf UD was thinking when they put this product together.from the terrible designs(those shift change cards with the giant blank area:p) to the ridiculous empty windows on the RC/auto's.it's as if they couldn't be bothered to design a non jersey with auto rookie card.throw into the mix a bunch of "update" Trilogy and Artifacts and you have lost me completely. makes me think they are too busy with their Epack program to give a rats *** about putting any effort into a $100+ box staple product.
the last case at my lcs netted what i guess was a case hit,an Eichel Artifacts Sapphire rc #/85.yes,that was THE best card in the entire case, unless you consider 2 Shinkaruk rc/auto's and a Virtanen rc/auto and 4 O'Connor trilogy auto/rc's.
to be honest,UD seems to be doing everything in their power to push collectors like me away from collecting.between price increases, holding back product and imo the worst product i've seen in over 40 years of collecting(this years SPX).
i'm onto you Upper Deck,i know your M.O. by now.get an exclusive deal with a hot rookie class and then proceed to shaft your customers with watered down products.but i didn't fall or it in '05 and i sure as hell ain't fallin for it now. Bring on Final Vault please!

I agree with the above statement... When the HELL is Upper Deck gonna wake the heck up??? I planned for this year to be the year that I crack the MOST... And it's been the year I have cracked the LEAST.... I hope there following products like showcase and OPC Platinum will be decent or it looks like the only product I'm breaking this year is from leaf..

Hasn't SPX been a disaster the last 4-5 years? I saw this one coming from miles away but I didn't open any (just saw whats online). Almost zero veteran auto'd content, no veteran patches, full force style inserts (not exactly a bad thing, but when they aren't numbered, they don't scream added value), limited use of sweet shot autos...the list could go on.

Edited because I wanted to add: Redemptions of McDavid to my list of issues.

I feel the same way. The throwbacks were cool, but the rest of the product didn't make up for it design-wise. Not a great product. Plus some of those higher-end rookies as redemptions are just not cool, especially in a low-middle of the road product like SPX, which includes sticker autos, etc.

The throwbacks have the EXACT same damage as the 05-06 did with Broken 'R's as the first one I pulled was broken ...

Never been a fan of SPX and with no Devils to chase this year I didn't even bother to check breaks of this stuff. No idea how this gets bought year after year

Never liked SPX. This years product is even worst. Looks like another Connor or bust product. Which isn't the end of the world if the design was half decent. But most of the cards here look terrible.

Watched a couple breaks on line and can't for
the life of me understand what people see in this stuff. And
through it all, breaks continue to be filled.Amazing.
