This was kind of interesting to me more on the second part then the first part but let me start with the first part as it brings up a good point. The current format is the division winners are ranked 1-3 and then the best records fall in order after that putting Dallas in 4 spot. With this format it will possibly lead and did lead to this year the best two western division teams meeting in the second round. Stern is hinting at possible revamping by seeding the best four teams in order regardless of how they fall in the division thus Dallas would have been a 2 seed and would not be meeting Spurs till the conference finals.
The second part I had put little thought into other then I had to miss the game (taped it) the Pistons and Cavs were the featured late game Sunday. With the Mavs and Spurs playing the early game or 10:00 am out west many possible viewers possibly were at church. On the talk shows here in Detroit even admit the better game/series is the Mavs/Spurs and should have been the featured game at 3:00. What the talk show said is that ABC wanted these match ups at these times for $$$ I suppose. At any rate starting to babble but somewhere in here I have a point I think hahahaha.
