Steve Lyons Fired by FOX

Following Friday's A's v. Tigers ALCS Game 3 Fox fired announcer Steve Lyons for racially insensitive comments. In the article below on ESPN.com you can see some of the comments made during the game. If anyone can find a picture of him while he was announcing please post it. I can't picture which guy it is and can't find any pics of him.

The sad part is a LOT of Americans think like that and eventually it slips out. A politician running for Senate (Bob Corker) makes comments like that in his ads trying to get people to vote for him. Pitiful.

Well, I don't know what the motivations were for Lyons making such comments but I would have to disagree that the majority of Americans intentionally say something racially inflammatory. Unfortunately though, yes Americans tend to exaggerate the stereotypes made towards racial minorities however, that is only natural. The point here is that stereotypes do introduce you to new cultures..but it should only be a starting point..not an ending point.

Did you watch the game friday? Lyons was sitting to the Right of Lou if you were looking out of the press box and onto the field. I can post a bubble gum card if you would like.

As for the comments not sure exactly when they happened as I was watching the game but also very busy trying to get some stuff done before I was going to run down to the game. I didn't hear his comments but sounds like the wallet thing was not a good use of words. Lyons to me seems to be one that likes to goof around with stories but I don't see him enough on TV to really know.
