Just have to write something and I wonder if I am the only one here? Cards are growing thicker and thicker and they are harder and harder to store.

I mean come on 180p top loaders for a NT, Cup, Dominion BASE CARD!!!

Another thing why are the soft sleeves for thicker cards shorter then regular soft sleeves?

Aaaarrggghhh this annoys me extremely much.

I have to disagree with you about the thickness of the base cards. I think a high end product should distinguish itself as much as possible from a low end or mid end product and that includes the base cards. If you have to use thicker cases, then that's sort of the point: these cards should stand out from your other base cards.

I dont mind it on high end sets.Pulled some rookies from Rookie Anthology, think its 12/13 with 2 jersey piece, top load are worth more the the cards itself.

Thick cards are prone to corner wear, a huge majority of hobbyist dont like them because most arent in mint shape.I was suprise at the Montreal show that alot of collectors despise Cup. HP ,SPA FW/100 because they want a card in mint shape or none at all.

Agree 100%.

Also making really thick cards that are not really "hits". Panini was bad for this. You hit a brick in a pack and it turns out to be garbage.

I'm on the same page as the OP, anything beyond 100 pt is getting pretty ridiculous for a base card... for a nice patch card that just won't fit in anything under 180pt worth of cardboard, fine, but a brick of a base card just doesn't hold any appeal to me.

I don't mind that they make thick cards. The real complaint is the storage methods. Some people like to put cards in binders and no one sells pages for you to put those kinds of cards into. I actually have a bunch of pages (maybe 50 or so) I got in a used lot that you can put thick cards like The Cup or newer patch cards into. They do not have a brand on them, so I have no idea what they are. They are from the late 80s to early 90s and are not the PVC type of that era. They are kinda hazy looking and not clear like PVC or newer ones like UltraPro, Impel or whatever.

I have to say I never really thought about this issue before. Cards are cards in the end and none are of enough value to make me super irritated. At one point I hate mini cards but for some odd reason those seem to be selling well for me LOL.. Don't sweat the small stuff bro.. life is way to short.

i am with the OP on this one, I like to put my base cards in pages and those thick ones are not very conducive to that type of display, oh well, into the box they go

I want all my cards in a box to be the same size. Do you guys remember first year's Dominion? It was so frustrating. Just make it consistent. The rookie set is an extension of the base set. They should all be the same.

I agree with the OP. I collect base and inserts so I can put them in pages and in a binder. I have to skip out on base from The Cup and NT cause they don't fit.

I don't mind thick base cards from premium products. I put them into Vintage sleeves and store them in a three-row box, so storage isn't an issue. Sure, they are prone to a little damage, but there are too many condition queens in this hobby anyway, so I don't mind a ding here and there.

A premium product can distinguish its base cards in more interesting and meaningful ways than simply making the base cards thicker.
