Ironman Indy
2009 Most Generous Member of the Year,
First show and tell in 6 months.
Decided not to pick up everyone that comes up and show a little discretion and just go after what I like and can afford.
A couple PCs are on the back burner and just focusing on the smaller player collections.
The goalie RC project never dies so let's start off with that progress report.

I picked these up from the LCS or ebay. I acquired the triple with Murray at the LCS but pulled the Platinum the other day so nice to have a couple RCs of the "Cam Ward" of this year's playoffs!
That brings me up to date with every goalie that has played (pre all star break cut off). There is one more goalie that played last year and he finally made an appearance on cardboard this year. I was hesitant to pick one up as I figured he would be featured in several upcoming sets. Well sets came and went and as we get down to the last few sets of the year no checklist has had him on it. I let ones go at $10, $20. I lost out on $30 and $40 versions. I started to get a little concerned as there are only 34 copies of this official RC so I decided to overpay and grab this one. A best offer and counter offer back and forth at least got it down to a little more palatable number and at least now I don't have to worry about a hole in the PC.
A pain in the Bunz for sure :foottap:
2015 SPGU RC /34

Beckett says it is a RC. I thought cards had to be /99 to be considered "RC" but this looks like it could be Tyler's only card unless he appears in The Cup or whatever is left this year. I'm just glad he doesn't wear #1 or we could have a Ty Conklin situation all over again only worse!
Anyway on to the other PCs:
John Garrett:
2013 BTP Masked Men Gold /10

This took a while to show up and be where I could afford it. Glad to get one for the price I did finally.
I debated for a while if this was a card that fit my PC as it is an Expo card and I usually ignore show cards. It is unique and one finally showed up on auction and I won it for a fraction of what they usually list for so I am pleased to add this piece as my Garrett PC is pretty much 100% complete
2013 ITG Ultimate Memorabilia Legacy /20

Gilles Meloche:
Another PC that is pretty much complete. After picking up these two I believe I am down to one card.
2011 BTP Decades Quad /9

I missed out on a cheap one a couple years ago and regretted it until finally this popped up that I managed to get for a best offer I could live with. Bonus Vachon on this one (who I have put on hiatus PC-wise)
2012 BTP Patch Auto /5

Waited a long time for this to show up and what a beaut! Very happy with the price as well
Mike Liut:
2015 Trilogy Base and Parallel

2015 Trilogy Puck Auto

The Blues cards are nice but gotta love the Whalers Liut. There are another 2 versions with the newer misnamed 90s "retro" Whalers logo and an NHL shield. I may get the other logo /16 but the shield /3 is probably unlikely.
2015 OPC Red redemption

That just leaves the blank back - I saw one and didn't win it, haven't seen one since
Sean Burke:
1994 Score Gold Line Pinnacle Punched

Picked this one on COMC - an odd version that I was unaware of back in the day and not on my Beckett generated checklist.
2003 Private Stock Reserve Retail and Patch versions

This next one has been on my wantlist for 10 years. Never seemed to see one for less than $100 or close to it. This one was on COMC and well for about a third of that price I guess the wait was worth it!
2005 Parkhurst True Colors

The back features Richards, Fedotenko, Artyukhin and Craig but really who cares after the first player on the front far left
Ron Francis:
So many Francis releases, Whalers and otherwise, so I really have to pick and choose what I like and can afford. The new Platinum looks nice but mostly all Penguins so no need to try and get all those parallels. I am sticking to Whalers only for Ron's post retirement releases.

The 87 Panini is about the oldest release of Francis I didn't have. Just one of those things that got overlooked or never got picked up.
Final card is one I wasn't sure I would ever own. When it first came out I thought it was a must have. 2 of my all time Whalers plus another fave goalie from the 70s not to mention another great goalie from the 80s
I can't recall if they showed up very often if at all, they certainly weren't cheap. This one showed up in Vault form for $100 just recently and I did NOT want a Vault version, I wanted the real deal. This actual card was won recently by someone else for a quarter of the Vault version's price and for some reason reappeared a few weeks later as a BIN for practically the same price. Well I wasn't going to let it slip away again so very happy to add this mini "White Whale" to the PC
2007 ITG Superlative Season /9

There you have it. This is what 6 months of being on a break gets you
Thanks for dropping by, see you again in November for my next S & T
