(I wonder if I can make Quincy envious two days in a row... :) )

How many times have we lived through this scenario - we meet someone new, either at work or through friends and whatnot, and someone mentions that you are into card collecting. There's always someone who says "I've got some real nice cards at home", and it ends up being scads and scads of 90/91 Pro Set and whatnot. Maybe there are a few dollar rookies in there, but not much else. Well my story is about the one time when the guy who says he has some cards, *actually* has some cards!!

So a guy at work brings me some cards in last week and, surprisingly, there are a few in there that I like and I express interest in. He says he's a Canadiens fan and wants to see some of my 'older' habs stuff. So I take him a fewer lower-end Lafleur game-used I have from my trade page, plus a few Canadiens Ultimate memorabilia items from my PC. One of them is the Patrick Roy H&P auto I got a great deal on last week.

ANYWAYS, one thing leads to another, yada yada yada, and we end up working out a deal and he takes away a couple of descent Ultimate Memorabilia pieces, the Roy auto, etc. And he's pretty happy. So I get this lovely assortment...

81/82 OPC Paul Coffey RC (nice shape!)
99/00 UD Retro Gerry Cheevers Auto
99/00 Century Legends Brett Hull Auto
99/00 BAP Millenium Nik Khabibulin Gold Auto
99/00 SP Authentic Ladislav Nagy RC
99/00 Topps Premier Plus Alex Tanguay Auto (completes my set!!)
99/00 UD All-Star Class MacInnis Quantum Silver #/100
99/00 BAP Memorabilia Jaromir Jagr In The Numbers, real nice 3-color swatch

Now you may be saying to yourself - "not bad, FERRIS, but you gave up some nice stuff, including a Patrick Roy autograph, for some pretty mediocre stuff".

Well, yeah, I did. But it was all part-and-parcel to try and get this one....

99/00 UD Retro Inkredible Tier 2 Maurice Richard #3/25!!!!!

I could hardly believe my eyes when I saw it sitting there in a scratched up toploader with no penny sleeve. Apparently my coworker was big into bustin boxes about 5-6 years ago and gave it up when he couldn't keep up with the new product. Yes, I gave up some nice stuff, but the stuff I gave up are relatively easy pieces to aquire these days. Not this puppy.

Anyways, all is/are available except Tanguay and the Rocket.

Thanks for the read.

Great deal! That is a sweet Richard Auto! Ahhh the wonderful never ending road to Pro Set & Score commons that's in a shopping bag in the closet, can u picture the sharp corners :)

Ryan, awesome pickup - you just don't see those at ALL!

There is a guy at my office who has put together an OPC set EVERY year since it came out in the late 60's - all cards pack pulled fresh. He finally gave it up before last year.

That guy is a Habs fan and he gave up that card. He had no idea how valuable it was. You are sooooooooooooo lucky!
