I think I've finally reached the end of collecting cards as much as I do...I have TWO babies on the way, we're moving into a new home and I think the money being spent on cards will virtually disappear with twins arriving in a few months (think of all of the diapers!).

This has been in my head for the better part of two years but I think it's long overdue. I'm definitely not saying goodbye, nor am I walking away COMPLETELY, but I am going to rearrange my priorities. Cards will move quite far down the list.

I've been in sell mode for a while and I think I'll be that way for the next few months until the twins arrive. I'll be on HI, but not as much and I'll definitely see y'all at the Spring Expo. I have a bunch that I want to keep but the rest will be sold off. I'm in talks with a few people about a collection buy, so hopefully that pans out so I can move most at once.

I've made some awesome friends here and I consider HI my home (I'm on some other sites, but no where NEAR as active as I am here). Thanks to everyone for making the hobby take off for me from the Beckett days right up to the mass exodus that brought most of us here to Hobby Insider. This is a great site with great people...make sure it stays that way!

Congrats on your expected bundles of joy.

I know they will bring you more pleasure and joy than any trading card will.

Congrats is due!

I remember the first one for me....cut back a bit & bought a house...then WHAM number 2 came....just getting things organized and BAMMM number 3!

3 for my PC!! All 1/1's also :)

My oldest son is 7 now and I wish I kept the cards from my sprees from 02 to 04 for him to enjoy, the way he handles the cards now makes me wish I saved them all for him (not just the small stash lol)

Congrats again! Everything irons out :) Don't be in a rush....

D

Ryan - it's always sad to see someone step back from the hobby especially someone who regularly contributed so positively on the boards. That said I can totally relate to and understand your position, I took a year off almost in forced mode because I didn't originally step back properly when my kids came along. I'm glad to hear you're not disappearing altogether, and it was great to finally put a face to the name at the last Expo - I'll see you in May.

Congrats on the twins, thats great!

As far as the hobby goes, we all take breaks but as our priorities change so does our involvement in the hobby. There will come a point where you can afford to collect comfortably again.

Stay 'round here if you can, man. This place can't have enough sanity.

Oh, and if you have Lindros shinies, you know who to call. 8)

Congrats on the little baby buffs on the way and you'll always be the leader of the BWO.

You can't keep the quincy. Which one are you going to sell on ebay?

Congrats though. I couldn't imagine the stress of having twins. One is plenty for me. haha

Congrats on the younglings, Ryan, and kudos for having your head screwed on tight enough to make the right decision.

Use the extra free time to bank some sleep. ;)

Ryan, you have become a very good friend of mine and I wish you all the best. I am sure once my wife and I finally are blessed to have children, I will probably have to rethink my priorities as well.

Please stay in touch and keep up the witty sarcasm. BWO for life!

A wise choice.

Now, while you are not collecting, check out my wants threads and site and see if you can help me raise your babies with you a few bucks at a time!!!

Congratulations on the forthcoming babies, you will have fun with them that no piece of cardboard can ever obtain.
i guess the real question is who you are going to leave that box breaking horseshoe to?

Ryan, i wish you and the wife a great life together raising the twins. I see how you carry yourself on here and in person and can easily tell you're going to be great at fatherhood my friend. Look forward to seeing you in May bud.
Dan.
