OK...I just saw the highlights from the exhibition game. Did anybody see Tavares' second goal?

Quiet possibly one of the greatest goals I've ever seen. The hand-eye was unbelievable.

What do y'all think? Did you see it, and did he cement the 1st overall pick with his play in the pre-tourney?

I don't think someone could ever say they secured a spot in the draft on the heels of a few pre-tourney games, but he's definitely looking special right now. I think it'll be tough for some team to pass on Hedman, though. How often do you see a guy with his size who can move the puck and skate so well?
 
That was disgusting. This kid definitely is special...I'm thinking he's got #1 overall locked, depending on the needs of the team with the pick.
 
Hedman is a stud - Tavares is a stud - I don't think you can miss on either one of them.

That Boychuck goal was pretty nice as well and who laid that hit on the big man, was that Della Rovere? That was punishing - nice looking squad once again.
 
Tavares will be a NYI come next summer, I am so excited. First star we've had since Palffy and may end up our best player ever next to Bossy ;)
 
It has been suggested that it will depend largely on which team gets the 1st overall that will determine whether Hedman or Tavares goes with the 1st pick. For example....if Tampa gets the 1st pick.....their current glut of forwards may cause them to pick Hedman. Personally, I subscribe to the view that you have to pick the best player available irrelevant of current team needs. Currently, IMO the best player of the two is Tavares.....that goal was sick!!

Awesome goal!!! I really think that it will come down to what team gets the first pick and what they need more. Both definitely deserve to go first though!
 
It took me a minute to figure out exactly what he did to it. Juggled it back to the forehand in mid-air -- and then baseball-whacking it in. It's ridiculously impressive, though also doubtful he'd have that much space on NHL ice.
 
Beatiful goal. One to remember. The kid has talent. Whether it's OHL, CHL, NHL, IIHL, AHL, etc.. it was a really nice goal. If he's not drafted #1, I'd hate to be the team known to have passed him over.

Can't wait until the games begin tomorrow.

I have since seen other angles that are more impressive, as they show the puck was actually a good distance behind the net. The YouTube vid does not even do the goal justice. I'm looking forward to see how the boys do in meaningful games.
 
Geez all the hype after reading these posts, then i see the video on youtube, i was a bit disappointed. Considering the magnitude of the game it was very darn good goal, basically a showcase for his future there. But Ill hold my highest praises for when he breaks out the stickhandling skills to thwart a couple Dmen and deke the goalie (malkinesque style).

Anyone have any other goals by him?

Considering how many he's gotten, I am sure there are a few others floating around on YouTube.

Im sure, didnt mean to sound like i was knocking on tavares, but I fully expect him to bring something more impressive to the table before he is drafted. I want to see something that will make him a decisive #1. Cause dollar for dollar, Id go with Heddy first. Young scorers are really coming out of the woodworks in recent years, young hedman's are a bit harder to find.

Although it all depends, like was said, if I were the isles??? Tavares is the best thing since they had luongo.....:)
