So far, Crosby has been centering Iginla and Nash, and since these guys are all locks to make the team, this could be the first line.

Is there a better combination? I personally think those three together would be perfect. Grit, speed, finesse, and two top goal scorers with the world's best playmaker.

Thoughts?

Those three would help my rec team...

Honestly - does it matter - Canada is going to be stacked from top to bottom. Put Staal with Getzlaf and Perry and that could be your number one - Thornton with Carter and Lecavalier and that could be your number one...

Seriously - make two teams and both would probably perform just as well as the one will.

Stacked? Like the team that finished 7th four years ago? :|

If Yzerman stays on the chemistry track (read: leave Heatley off the team), we'll win gold. If he assembles just another all star game kind of team, we won't medal.

i dont like nash with iginla and crosby. staal or gagne are better skaters to compliment iginla and crosby.

In my humble opinion, both of those guys are question marks to make the team. Iggy and Nash are locks. Why have your number one centre practice with a couple of guys that might not even make the team?

St Louis and Vinny would be great along Sid

Talk is both of these guys need to fight for a spot, too, which I found a little surprising, but not ridiculous. Vinny had a very subpar year last year (injuries were a factor), and St. Louis may be a guy who gets passed by some younger players on the depth chart.

Honestly - does it matter - Canada is going to be stacked from top to bottom.

Nah, but I like to speculate. It's fun to talk about this stuff in August.

I disagree about Staal not being a lock to make the team. Gagne I can see, especially with his recent injury.

I agree. If Staal doesn't make this team, I'll eat my hat. The kid is a rising superstar, and if he were in Toronto or Montreal, he'd get near Crosby level hype.

As for linemates, I like Iginla Crosby Nash - that line will be freakin' dynamite.

I personally think the problem with the 2006 team was they picked too much character guys, then couldn't score any goals. They had some of he best players in the game, but they had a defense that included Bryan McCabe, and forwards including Kris Draper, Shane Doan, Todd Bertuzzi and Ryan Smyth - I don't think they assembled the best team they could have.

This time around, I'd prefer they go all skill - the players are good enough to fit into the character roles they need.

Put Luongo between the pipes and book the 7 goals against.

Fixed.

But yeah the problem with 2006 Bertuzzi + Jovo + McCabe + Redden + Blake + Pronger + Olympic sized ice - Staal, Crosby, Phaneuf(who was playing awesome at the time). Too slow, too big of ice.

I loved seeing St Louis on the same line as Crosby yesterday. I still think St Louis will be on the team and will make huge contributions.

Intersting.. For the scrimmage last night the first 2 periods was Nash/Iginla/Crosby. Third period though Iggy got subbed out for St Louis (so St Louis/Crosby/Nash).

St Louis looked good last night. He seemed to really be hustling and working out there unlike some of the other players who just looked like they were coasting.

Nah Luongo playing in front of home town crowds the whole tourney will be fantastic. He's the best goaltender in the world right now. (forgiveness to Marty)

I didn't say Staal isn't a good bet, but I stand by the statement that he is not a lock. There are about five guys on Team Canada that KNOW they will be there, and the rest will be competing. If Lecavalier has a dynamite start to the year like he did two seasons ago, and Staal has a slow start like he did, then what?

Even Crosby went on record saying he does not feel like he is a lock (yeah, he is probably just saying that...but he said it).
