The Controversy in Baseball Continues!

Having skimmed the article the thing I guess I don't mind if the ball was juiced which I think we could all agree on either the ball was juiced, steriods or combination led to a huge increase in HR's around the late 90's and through the early 00's. That kind of why we had commericals about chicks dig the long ball. I guess I would have more of a problem if say the Detroit Tigers were juicing their own baseball's for home games and no other teams were---> but if it was across the whole sport then I don't see an advantage for any one team. Sure the homerun teams may benefit a bit more but everyone was hitting homeruns even Brady Anderson hit 51 around that time. I say no harm no foul here but maybe that just me. Who knows maybe the brass for MLB said we need to do something to help put the strike of 1994 behind us lets juice up the baseball's!!!
 
The reason baseball contains the most controversy is because so many Americans tie their successes to the sport. It's called "America's Sport" because it has been around for such a long time and people hold these records close to their hearts. People grew up with the sport and it continues to be a big part of their lives. They can take their families and relatives there and the passion only continues to grow. If players now are challenging these records (and allegedly cheating their way towards it) it is only bound to ignite huge uproars and controversy.

As far as the baseballs being juiced, I really don't care. Even if they did it to bring people back to the sport and it was used across the board, then fine. It created more excitement for the sport..just look at how NASCAR changed how their championship was obtained. What I don't condone are players being juiced..because 1) not everyone does it so it creates this "do it or lose it" atmosphere 2) it is extremely harmful.

On another note, Mark McGwire definately doesn't belong in the hall of fame..and with that said if I were voting for someone to be on the hall..I would be definitive across the board..anyone who became eligible for the Hall that came out of the "Steroid Era" should not be allowed into the Hall, that IMO is the only way to make a solid stand.
 
I can say that baseball is a mess. Thus the reason, after 27 yrs (since I was 5) of being a diehard fan...I have jumped ship. I no longer watch, go to or check the box scores of any game. I simply couldn't care less anymore.

Baseball has done enough to turn me away. Not that any of the other sports are without their own controversy....it's like picking the lesser of two evils.

I've begun to follow hockey...box scores, highlights on ESPN ;) etc And so far..I'm loving it. :)
 
I have always been a big baseball fan and will continue to love the game regardless of any controversy. Controversy has always been a big part of the game and probably always will be.
 
The HOF should not be such a political thing. Judge a player by what he did on the field! Look at my sign in and it will tell you where I stand on Rose! I feel the same on Mcguire, Sosa, Griffey Jr., Arod and the whole lot who are todays sluggers. Basketball lets everyone in, baseball is just too tight! Guys like Jim Rice, Dale Murphy and Goose Gossage should have been first ballot. I'm not saying going to an all star game should qualify you for the hall, but the type of numbers that Rose and McGuire put up should have them in the HOF! Reinstate Pete! I'm glad he came free now reward him and McGuire as we all cheered our tails off for these two true greats of the game as they reached their unreal total at the plate!
