Okay, for those who know me, it's no secret that I'm a big Jack Johnson collector. I was under the impression that he was never in this set but this left me scratching my head.

Was he meant to be in the set and just never made it out of house? Is this from an un-cut sheet? Did the seller just make a custom? Any help would be great.

I'm not sure, but I know this seller has been selling numerous uncut sheets, uncut cards, promos, uncirculated stuff and such on ebay for a while. I would eliminate 'custom' for sure.

I purchased these off of the seller a while back. Another instance of cards that were never released.

They are slightly bigger than a normal card (but can still fit in top loaders).

For what it's worth, I'm happy with them. Hope it helps.

yep. someone cut up the sheet. interesting that he wasnt even in the set... this may be one of just a few actual printings.
Here I thought I missed the card being available..

Id say it was from an uncut sheet.

Think of all the Ultimate Signatures that always leak out months later. Johnson probably never auto'd his draft board cards, and UD just decided to not include him in the set.

I remember from other Cup Uncut sheets seeing cards on the printing sheet that never made it into the actual set

Wow.... UD said that my sheet was a 1/1. Someone else had a sheet then... hopefully, now my sheet is a 1/1. And yes, Johnson is on my sheet like that too. Didn't realize his was not made.

Previous years have had sheets range in the 5-10 range as far as Cup redemptions go.

That being said, if this seller has had proofs and other uncut sheets in the past, it's also possible that they could have come from the printer. The card companies seem to contract out the printing to other sources, and they have used the same printers in the past.

Yeah- I worked at a diecutting place in the printing industry last year... We diecut stuff like giftcards. Those companies always sent 10-20 press sheets to us to lay out the die and we would always cut a few sheets on a Kongsberg Table (google it) to make sure everything checked out.

Not saying thats what happened, but as a designer that always had pre-press sheets for companies like Miller Lite and Best Buy, I know a lot of those companies want those sheets destroyed or returned when we were done with them. not that that always happens

Really? I was told they were limited. Like Gold parallel rookies would be /3 or something and the shields and draft board were 1/1. But given that this was last year and whoever i talked to is probably gone now, I am not surprised.

Another piece of advice from the printing industry... When cards are printed on giant sheets (industry standard is 26x40 or 28x40) their is 1/4 inch between cards (gutters) on the sheets, thats why when you get these proof cards they are probably 3.75 x 2.75, because the people arent cutting them on the crop marks which would make them 3.5 x 2.5 (a standard card), but they are just making one cut down the middle of the gutters.

That seller specifically sells LOADS of garbage cut from the uncut sheets. He's taken a unique collectable and tried to turn it into a different unique collectable...that the majority of collectors are gleefully ignoring.

Having collected the 08/09 Draft Board set (almost done), I'll confirm that there's no auto'd Jack Johnson available...so what you see is a "card" cut out of the proof sheet.

I remember when one person was buying up all these uncut printing sheets last year. Almost every player now has an "artist proof" for sale as a copy of their shield card. Most are WAY overpriced. If I got a sheet, I'd go for getting the whole thing auto'd over the years. I'd buy one if they were reasonable, but $300? good grief.
Is it possible UD didn't get his whole draft board or do they contract that ahead? I was at the 2006 draft and Corrente from my hometown went unexpectedly high and he wasn't there. Wish I woulda asked for his draft Board, Muellers, too for that matter.

this seller has been buying uncut sheets, and uncut sheet redemptions for a while now and cutting them himself to sell the cards individually.

as far as being a 1/1. from the info i had from multiple sources, the ONLY sheets that were 1/1's were the shields and black rc's

It's funny....I just saw the same seller selling a 08-09 Jordan Staal Signature Patch "Artist Proof". I have never seen the real Signature Patch so I assume Staal's was never made.

I just can't bring myself to buy these "Artist's Proof's".....but you never know. If they go at auction cheap I might try, but I doubt it.

Not Draft Boards, but another example of those Artist Proofs that I found listed on eBay right now were a Sakic Stanley Cup Signatures and a Sakic Chirography. Those are particularly interesting to me namely because I can't remember Sakic ever having signed cards for UD, save for BAP. Too bad though, the Stanley Cup Signatures would've been sweet.
