Canadian TV and funny=SCTV. You young 'uns need to see some of those episodes--available on DVD.
"Sources within the CBC's Public Relations department tell AM 640 Toronto
news licensing rights to the Hockey Night in Canada theme song are still
being negotiated. Earlier reports from representatives of the familiar
music that the CBC is ending the relationship appear to have been
premature."
Okay, I'll chime in.
Bob Cole & Greg Millen need to be taken out to pasture... and shot. Please bring along Glenn Healy & Pierre Maguire too.
Nickelback is the best thing out of Hanna, Alberta since Lanny McDonald. And their music is great. Deal with it.
Corner Gas is the best Canadian show since The Littlest Hobo... okay... maybe since SCTV... but still AWESOME (even if it IS about some hicktown in Saskabush!) and I never miss an episode. Damn, I just admitted I like something from the prairies...
The HNIC theme is akin to our National Anthem. For you Americans, picture them taking away "America The Beautiful" from your lives and see how you feel. This is appalling and pathetic of some idiotic CBC bureaucrat (is that redundant?) making a rash decision without thinking of any sort of outcome. Updating HNIC is fine, like adding the "Saturday" theme to it or whatever... but taking away a truly iconic theme song like this is like taking away the Henderson goal in '72.
Bottom line... a stupid decision.

The suck so bad they only sold 21 million albums, brutal band no one likes them. I wish I was that terrible...................
And for all the haters list me 5 of your fav bands and I guarantee you I will find one that "sucks".
Britney Spears, the Pusssssycat Dolls and Hanna Montana have probably sold more... don't tell me they are good too.
you're right album sales don't dictate quality all the time but i guess all 21 million people have horrible taste in music. As for you what are your fav bands?
Tool, Dredg, Deftones, Mars Volta, and Glassjaw
theres 5. Trash any of them all you want, at least all there songs don't sound the same. Unlike Nickelback who's albums have 12 songs that go "verse, chorus, verse, chorus, *solo/bridge thingy* chorus" every time.
Cant believe Canada is up in arms over a theme song.
Funny thing - Every time a music debate comes up everyone I speak to lists Tool as a fav band but when you ask to name 5 songs they like their "um, uh, wait Sober I think is one????" then they have to go and google Tool to find the songs. Mars Volta ok come talk to me when you find some taste in music my friend.
