The lighting at MSG

I know this has probably been discussed before, but is it really that hard to put in some extra light fixtures so that the ends of the rink aren't significantly darker than the rest? Unless it's some "home ice advantage" sort of thing, it's gotta be hard to make an outlet pass; it's like baseball when the shadows cover between the pitchers mound and home plate. I know they talked about 3 renovations. Will lighting be one of them?

it's not as dark as you think it'd be. it's actually alot worse on tv than it is in person. the reason why other arenas are so much more lit up is that MSG doesn't have those signs that go around the entire arena flashing advertisements and stuff. i think those will be put in with the upcoming renovations.

and just for reference, here's a pic from the Wells Fargo Center. signs i'm talking about are the 2 red bands going across the entire pic. i was surprised how bright it was my first time there.

Okay, with the picture there, it doesn't look as dark as it does on TV. And I'd prefer the arenas to not have the bands that go all the way around, they can be distracting.
However, they DO help me realize important upcoming events, like Sade and The Jonas Bros.

The lighting on TV is probably due to the light filters they use on the cameras there. For years, I thought that Rogers Centre looked dead and dreary because of how dull it appeared on TV for Jays games. When I actually took in a game there, it was anything but dull in terms of the lighting inside.

I know it is because of TV (camera filtering/production)...not the actually lighting at the event. Oiler home games always look like the ends of the arena are dark. But if they were, player safety would come into play and they would complain.

MSG is an old school rink, one of the few out there. I actually like it. I guess if youre a fan of the rags you get used to the lighting (and in a way look forward to those home games).

The cameras could be factor as well, but in this day and age I dont think that can be an excuse every single night.
