A few weeks ago we had a discussion over Felix Potvin prices and people didn't realize how much this guy sells for. As a Potvin fan I know first hand, his stuff usually out sells all the stars.

Here is another example. I have been looking for this card for years it normally sells $150ish.

Down right crazy. The bonus is that when an auction like this sells so high other people see the price and jump at the chance to sell theirs hoping to get the same amount. Its good because most of these are in PC but money talks and flushes some out. There is another one already listed lol.

Pretty amsuing that he is a lot more popluar now among card-collectors than when he actualy was active then during 90's...like many others retired players.

But many non-collecting hockey fans thinks entirely different (execpt some Maple Leafs fans or The Cat of course) about him compared with the card-collectors who treats him like if he actually is a Hall of Famer...just like with many other former players with an average NHL-career with some good seasons and are universally rated as "overrated" or "medicore at its best" by the non-collecting hockey fans but meanwhile the collectors thinks the exactly opposite...

Pretty bizarre that this card was sold at an exactly same price as a Private Signature Platinum 1/1 with Sidney Crosby! Plus more than the mostly 1/1's I has seen with players like M.Lemieux, Messier, Bure, Hasek etc....while players like Potvin, Linden, Irbe, Price, Clark sells a lot better....

Any of his more rare items especially older 90's inserts sell for crazy coin. It basically chased me out of collecting him. Some think its set collectors but its really not, all his items sell for more then most superstar players do. Look at his MVP super script stuff, crazy, crazy crazy lol. I guess I should start moving all my more rare items....nah lol.

Dear lord....

When i first got into cards i was l--l that close to collecting Potvin i was a huge fan of his when i was a kid, and then he came over to play for Vancouver so it seemed like a no brainer to collect him, i then jumped over to Dan Cloutier and stopped picking up Potvin stuff, im happy that i did that now... i wouldnt even be able to compete with those crazy collectors.

:whatthehell: LOVE those auctions but not willing to pull the plug and sell the Potvin cards and some of the other 90s players that I collect that I had posted!

There was also a Dominion printing plate that sold for $400+ last week. Just insane.... I know it's a 1/1 but it's not auto'd and has no piece of memorabilia on it and a lot of people don't even bother touching printing plates.

LOL Potvin slightly edges out the overhyped and overrated Montreal Canadien players.

I've found the more mediocre the player the likelihood it'll sell higher.

seen ANYTHING quite like that. That auction is truly jaw dropping.

Out of ONE HUNDRED! And it still snags that kind of coin.

Amazing.

I almost feel a little better about some of the prices I've paid for some of the rare birds I've picked up recently.
