The Sundin plot thickens

I am without a doubt a true Leafs hater. It goes way back when my dad was a Leafs fan and I liked the Habs. Our house was just crazy during Habs/Leafs games.

I have watched Mats more than I would have liked but I can't say that he was ever a slacker. A whiner maybe but I didn't see the slacker side. It has to be frustrating playing for a team that you know won't go anywhere even with the talent of a player like Mats. I'm sure being a captain in Toronto is the ultimate high for any NHL player but you take the good with the bad. Mats should have realized that the management at Leafs nation didn't care whether they won the Cup or not. As long as the seats were full and the fan base remained the same why spend money on more talent. And I don't see anything changing in the near future.

I'd really appreciate it if he would play for the Red Wings.
But I don't know if they need him...

Zetterberg - Datsyuk - Holmstrom
Franzen - Sundin - Cleary
Filppula - Draper - Samuelsson
Abdelkader/Downey(?) - Hudler - Helm/Maltby

The only thing I don't like about Sundin is his dirty play and how he gets "superstar" treatment from the refs. The guy could get called for mugging or stick infractions 10 times a game, but he never gets called for it. He is todays version of Mark Messier, highly skilled, seems to be a solid leader, but he has that nasty edge and gets away with way more then most players do.

BUT, I would love to see him in Chicago for a year or two. The Hawks could surely use his experience and veteran leadership for all the kids.
