The Montreal Canadiens announced that goaltender Jose Theodore tested positive for a substance on the WADA banned substance list, at a Thursday evening news conference.

Head Team Physician, Dr. David Mulder, discussed details of the test.

Theodore tested positive for the hair restoration drug, Propecia, which is not an anabolic steroid but does act as a masking agent. Mulder stated that Theodore has been using the product for "eight to nine years."

"He's been taking it on the advice of a dermatologist," Mulder told the assembled media. "And he has had very good success and he feels it has helped hair growth and prevented further loss and he has taken it with my knowledge."

Interestin' turn of events!

What a joke - CH found the way to tell him "Go Away" !

It's ridiculous !......................but that's great as a Huet Fan !

Is this hair product a masking agent for an other drug or things like that ?
That kind of stuff is normal in cycling worl, you just take a product which is forbidden but doesn't help the body in order to hide a stronger one. Don't want to say that theo is using that sytem but most of the time it's working like that.

I just read that it is a masking agent so that smells bad for him, drug or not !

The test might be the only "positve" thing about Theodore's season so far. :D

I'm suprised that it was Theodore. Might be a case of him taking somethng and not knowing it contained the banned substance.

Maybe this explains his season to date? He was great in previous years and when they announced that they would test he must have stopped doing it, hence the reason his season has gone down hill. I doubt it but you never know what this stuff actually does for a goalie!

Talk about a kick in the nuts for the Canadiens!

He's been bad this season, and now, it will be hard to trade him.

If you read the article, he tested positive for Propecia, which is used to treat hair loss. It is on the WADA list because it CAN BE used as a masking agent. It wasn't a steroid or performance-enhancer in any way. And just like Bryan Berard, this test won't have NHL implications.

Isn't Propecia the one that makes you "point south" as a side effect? I personally don't mind going bald but IF I did, I wouldn't take something that would hinder my "compass from pointing north."

I heard this on the way to work today and almost got in a car wreck from laughing so hard. I guess I just shake my head at this one..

*agrees with Oscar's well thought out points!*
Poor Jose - This man has been kicked in the crotch numerous times recently :(
