Hi,

I was thinking about something. It could be possible for cards manufacturers to add things that aren't expensive to produce, and that can make a break nicer.

For example, for RU, it would have been nice to be able to get the parallels of the RCs. It would have been nice to pull BD color parallels and Artifacts 1/1 from that product for example.

Also, for Ice, it would have been nice to get an easier color parallel, like orange, with a print run of say 1000.

Also, I would be curious to see referee GU.

And, what about insert cards containing multiple swatches from practice jerseys. And, using white swatches of second level players to make multi-swatches cards that are nice for team players, like Pacific was doing in Heads-Up.
Maybe cards containing at the same time practice and GU swatches.

What are your thoughts about ideas not that much expensive that would make breaks more exciting?

i like the idea of having the different parallels in the RU set of black diamond

deffinately not a fan of referee GU in packs........

"today i opened tin of the cup and pulled a sweet 2 color (blk, wht) auto patch of Mr. Frazier"

i just dont see that happening

dburzyn: for sure, referee GU isn't for products like The Cup. But, in lower end stuff like MVP, I think it would be fun and different.

Also, what about parallels of non-GU inserts, like Pacific was doing?

One of my favorite concepts was the Quantum Parallels UD used to do of their insert sets. Some of which were #/100 and still sell really high on the bay. I also agree with you about throwing in more inserts, parallels or whatever in the packs. It was much more fun opening a box of Pacific stuff then it is opening a box of SPA where 21 out of the 24 packs are just base cards. That's my $.02. Mike

PS- BTW, Why didn't ITG put Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald parallels in H & P? It woulda cost them nothing and added $2-$50 per box in value.

Upper Deck didn't simply miss the boat this year, they didn't know there was a boat. How can any company who has had the most anticipated product, in at least 4 of the major sports,be so off course? SPA hockey, a potential home run was like being intentionally walked in a meaningless at bat.

I'm wondering why they didn't released Diary of A Phenom parallels in UD II.

Maybe in hobby packs.

Something like parallels with imitation of autograph /150, jsy parallel /10, AU parallel /5 and jsy/AU 1/1.

It would have cost them 180 stickers, and a part of a photo-shoot jersey, and it would have created a crazy hype around UD II.

Tell us which set, and at least a rough timeline, of when a jersey was worn when being used in a GU card.

That is the single biggest and best thing that I think could be done to improve the credibility / collectability of GU stuff. Sticks, jerseys, pucks, whatever. Tell me from whence it came and it will add considerable value in my eyes. Pacific did this on several GU sets, and so did Playoff in FB. This was always neat, because you could link the GU to a given event or season. Yes, I know admitting that makes me a major dork...

I have to agree that it was a nice thing from Pacific.

Also, I have to say that I like cards with swatches from old-timers games. But, please, don't count them in the odds of regular GU, add them as inserts. (mainly thinking about POH 02-03)
