Hey all...not sure if everyone knows me, but I am Graeme on beckett...and been on here for a couple years.

Due to some unforeseen circumstances mixed with a bit of ego...I am considering selling all of my cards, including a couple cool sets I have collected.

Does anyone have an idea what I would price this set at?

ITG Stick and Auto Gold /10 set from 04-05? It was featured in Beckett when I completed it...and there are only 6 or 7 possible other sets since I own a few doubles and a triple.

I also have 99% of the 03-04 Scripts set, with all the Gretzkys...and an 03-04 Premier Signatures set.

I assume the best thing to do is sell the cards individually, but as a set collector it is so tough to think of breaking them up.

I also have a Leroy Neiman Print of The Great Gretzky done in 1981. Its in a wicked museum quality frame...just unsure of the interest.

I am just so bummed right now...not going to get into to it, but man...family.

Hey Graeme,

#1- If you are going to sell your sets definately break them up! You will make money money that way and I'm guessing that probly part of the reason why you are selling.

#2- Try sit back and really think about selling you cards before you do it. There are a few of us player collectors, including me, who have brought up selling all or part of our PC's in the last few weeks. You never want to look back and regret your decision is the main thing I learned and I've really been thinking hard about which cards I might end up selling off. If you sell, maybe you can keep some of your favorite cards?

I feel like I'm rambling cause it's still early but really think about it before making that final decision.

My opinion is to wait for a 10 cent listing day on eBay and put a ridiculous BIN on your sets and accept offers. See what transpires from that and if you don't get any offers that you like - then post them individually.

Mike.

Graeme,

First let me say, it's nice to know buy your name other than the letter "G" as per our PM's.;)

As far as your collections go, you do what's best for you but I think the main rule applies:

Think it through, long and hard.

It really makes me sad to see some many people leaving the hobby in the past 2 years. Ironically, it coincides with the hockey NHL/NHLPA licensed trading card monopoly.:(

Keep us abreast of your status and if you need advice regarding moving the collection or any other thoughts about this decision, come and ask, we're all here to help fellow members.:)

Thanks Gentlemen.

It is a real bummer. I shouldn't NEED the money, but need to prepare, as I most likely will be leaving the family business...or will be forced out. I was treated very poorly yesterday after working there for 8 years, and it's time.

So...the money will potentially be a need. I have a strategy, and I still have to see how much selling my cards would/could bring in.

Sorry to hear of your recent mistreatment. I agree that breaking up the sets and listing on a 10 cent listing day would maximize your profit. Plmk if you decide to sell. I would love to see the Gretzky print and would definitely be interested in it. Thanks and good luck whatever you decide.

Wow... sometimes you just don't expect things... and reading this post was definitely unexpected. Graeme, I hope you sort things out there with the family... it's unfortunate if your hobby has to take a hit to solidify your finances, but at the end of the day is IS just a hobby. Take care of the homefront first buddy... cards can always be replaced.

Keep in touch and drop me a line any time...
