I didn't go to the Expo so I had some time to look at various hobby boards and I just read on SCF that the third and final Connor McDavid auto shield was pulled from EPACK.

Earlier the McDavid retro auto shield was also pulled from ePack. Maybe it is just me, but I personally think this shafts the local card store owners and those of us that still support them by shopping at their stores. Over the years I have been one of Upper Deck's biggest supporters but I think this is just wrong. Sure it makes economic sense for UD to hold back the best cards for their direct sale to the hobby via epack, but if I was a store owner and I am not, I would not be happy that two of the biggest cards in recent memory had no chance of being pulled at my store or by my customers when they are supporting the store owner and Upper Deck by buying at the local hobby store.

Congrats to the guy that pulled the card but two out of three McDavid shields come directly from UD Epack. Random selection, I don't think so, but that is just my opinion.

It's funny, EVERYONE who was opening any amount of UD1 knew that this weekend (and if you're not in Toronto for the Expo, then THIS WEEK) is the one time you will have to open UD1 and get rid of the Young Guns before the flood gates open up when ePack hits and the floor falls out from under the pricing and ability to reasonably sell any of these cards.

That being said, it's not just that two of the three McDavid shields from UD Ultimate were found in ePacks, it's that ePack itself is undermining the distributor, B&M AND the collector. I don't think I spoke to one single person (the two chaps that pulled the shields weren't there) that thought that ePack was a good idea or helpful to the hobby at all. The bad part is that people WILL continue to support it.

Yup, I am one of those guys. Now that the show is done.. I am gonna sell off the rest before the ePack storm hits.. as I was telling Ryan. I have over 500 YG from last year that are worthless.. I didn't even bulk buy any of this years UDS1.

this was brough up on twitter with someone really going after UD and the UD twitter rep wanting to call them to calm them down

As was said before as long as there is a market for epacks UD will continue to sell them. If collectors dislike how they flood the market then stop buying them. I agree that this is a slap in the face of the card shop owners. Most struggle to stay open competeting with Walmart, eBay and other sites. IMO it's poor taste of UD to offer such big cards in epacks rather than having them inserted in packs sold to shops.
