yes but this symbolizes todays impatience and laziness with our youth. Is it really worth 500 dollars to be first in lunch? C'mon just wait your turn brats.

The kids aren't the bidders, it's the parents. A LOT of the problems with kids these days is the result of lax parenting. Kids aren't born lazy, it's acquired.

If $500 means to these people what $10 might mean to others, then I think the money involved becomes meaningless.

I don't have any issue with paying a lot of money for my kids to go to private schools, but I do think this is excessive. I like the earlier mention of a punch in the head - I can see something like that happening.

Hoenstly, I think this has less to do with having your kid first in line, getting first choice locker, best parking spot, etc. than it does trying to raise money for the school. Yes, it's a private school, and the tuition is $13,500/year, but that's not a lot of money when you have to pay faculty, run extracurriculars, etc., without federal/state funds. Thus, they need to raise extra dollars, and while people are less willing to donate flat out, they will if they think they can get something in return, no matter how trivial that something is.

Just look at the last HI contest. How many people didn't/don't donate to the site until there's a prize involved.

Yeah, I do see the point there for sure. We were looking at some private schools for next year and the tuition amounts seem shocking, but like you said it's tough to run a school without funding.
