Hello All....I Picked this bad boy up at my local shop in Kingston Ont a little while back. Although I'm not a Vokoun fan, I just couldn't leave it there. I'm not sure what i'm going to do with it yet, but thought i'd take the time to show it off. NICE WORK ITG!

I agree......they do need a license.

You don't want to be "forced" to buy a Kia for every car you get, would you? Well, same thing for sports cards. Gives the collector a choice of what stuff they prefer.

Year in and year out, Dr. Price brings out the "Ultimate" in card beauty! :beer:

No license means no payments to the league or PA. No payments to these entities means (or should mean) lower prices.

They do a great job without the license; why mess with a good thing.

Does ITG really need a license? The grass isn't always greener.

Some good points.

If you look at The Cup issued rookies you just get the shoulders and up photo as illustrated below.

So really, does a license hinder ITG when the quality is there? I like the upper body shots of the player because it makes it more personal. What really helps ITG in absence of a license is the color selection on the cards. Match it up to that players team colors, incorporate it into the card of that player, then who needs the logos? I find it funny that people who dislike ITG because of the lack of team logos, and using of the upper torso shots, will collect the same type of card from Upper Deck. Things that make you go hmmmm. -Mike

Me??? ...it doesn't matter...If I like a product, I'll buy it regardless. And I've loved BAP/ITG Ultimate since the first edition came out (when it was licensed and when it wasn't). :)

Curt, good question. I don't know the answer but I can tell you that until earlier this month, I was among those who wouldn't. I have taken a complete 180. And the fact that they are not licensed, I wholeheartedly believe, works in their favour.

Mike, thanks for pointing out the head shot comparison and providing examples.

I have very recently (i.e., since Expo) become a big fan of ITG's UM brand. And I gotta say that if they are ever granted a license (which I do not think they ever will, but that's besides the point), I would have concern that what I have come to love about the product, could become compromised. And more expensive.

I am currently looking through old UM checklists and deciding what sets to chase and the fact that they are relatively cheap (unless phoenix is the seller lol, what a joke) makes them that much more attractive.

The Glove and Pad cards ITG has been turning out are a sight to behold, especially that one!

I'm fine with shoulder shots once in awhile, but it does get a bit tired. The coolest part of any uniform is and always will be the logo.

You could spin it another way and say that lack of emphasis on logos due to licensing issues has allowed ITG to focus more on masks, gloves, pads, sticks and other aspects of the game that don't get a lot of play in other releases.
