Aside from my post in the "So what's everyone been reading lately?" thread, i picked these up recently:

Amazing Spider-Man 500 (Rhino cover collection)
Hulk 314 (Rhino cover collection)
Iron Man 144 (I remember having it as a kid and wanted it again!)

I Kill Giants tpb
Saga of the Swamp Thing v1 HC
Spider-Man Fearful Symmetry: Kraven's Last Hunt HC

I haven't been 'round these parts much this year, but it looks like this thread can use a bit of a renaissance. A couple of the local shops are combining into a larger store so the constituent ones have had a lot of sales to lessen the amount of stock to be moved. In the last couple of months I have picked up the following:

Battlefields v1 tpb
I Killed Adolph Hitler
The Nightly News tpb
The Sword: Water (v2 tpb)
Incognito tpb
Avengers Disassembled hc
Magneto Testament hc
Hulk vs X-Force hc
Highlanders v3 tpb
Ultimate Wolverine vs Hulk hc
Dead@17 Ultimate Collection tpb
GI Joe Dreadnoks Declassified tpb
X-Men Origins (tpb gathering the one-shots)
Whiteout v1 tpb
The Losers Book 1 tpb (gathers trades 1-3 or 1-4 into one trade)
30 Days of Night: Spreading the Disease tpb

I also got the Adam Hughes cover book, "Cover Run: The DC Comics Cover Art of Adam Hughes". Great stuff!

I gave up buying moderns. Yep first time since 1989 that I have not bought my monthly comics. I gave up a couple months ago. Between the Batman and GL events and the BIG Marvel event I just couldn't take it anymore.

I am still buying back issues, HC and trades.

I still pick up The Boys, and I pick up at least one or two older trades every couple weeks.

Last week it was Batman Black and White. Talk about hit or miss with the stories tho. Sheesh.

I still do the monthly thing but I've narrowed my pull list down quite a bit. So much crap out there. I'm thinking of narrowing it down evern further to like 4 or 5 titles a month and thats it. The rest as trades and what not.

These big 'events' and crossovers are just too much.

Not the least reason being that NOTHING EVER FRIGGIN' HAPPENS!

The first big ones were Mutant Massacre and Crisis on Infinite Earths. And by the time all was said and done...bugger all really changed. House of M? Fine, we're down to 144. Does that matter? Not really. And so on.

Anyone read/hear about The Bulletproof Coffin? Apparently it's the shiznit.

Just wondering what'chall think

"Locke and Key" is my favorite. I highly recommend picking up the first 2 trades/HC (3rd one is released on Aug 10Th). It is really really good. Joe Hill is the writer he has a pretty famous dad (Stephen King).

From the covers I wasn't going to try it but I am glad I did. It is the first time is a really long time that I did not want to put a comic down. I am glad I picked it up in HC so that I could read the entire story rather then have to wait in between issues.

The Walking Dead?

I know it's super popular, and one of the 'essential' reads but is it really that good?

They had a reprint of #1 for a buck so I picked it up. If its good I'll pick up the first trade.... if thats good I'll get the second.... then if thats good, well, I'll be out a LOT of $$ trying to get each issue individually.

So in a way, I'm hoping it stinks lol
