I recently picked up the Hockey New's Future Watch which features the top prospects not currently playing a full time roll in the NHL. While I do value the insight of the writers I do not take it to heart as they did predict to Washington Capitals to win the East as well as the Cup this year.

But I do love junior hockey and the draft, and while a lot has been made of Halifax Mooseheads Center and Cole Harbor, NS Native Nathan MacKinnon. It was interesting to read that in the 2013 Draft Preliminary rankings they had Seth Jones of the US NTDP ranked number 1. It should be noted that the WHL's Everett Silvertips own his rights in the CHL.

From what I have read Jones is the complete package as a defenseman and his potenial is compared to Larry Robinson. Had he not been injured he would have played for the US WJC Team as a 16 year old, which is remarkable. Although many would argue that MacKinnon should have been on Canada this year, myself included.

With MacKinnon being compared to Crosby in a lot of ways. I think the 2013 draft should be a good one, but then again I think that every year.

Maybe it's just me but I get pumped for the draft and watching the future of hockey before they make the NHL is to me the greatest hockey played. Kids working their buts off, in order finally make the NHL and get that big pay off.

I think the main reason he was not invited to the canada camp is that they likely thought he wasn't quite ready - rather than bring him out there to cut him and send him home (he's young, and might take it personal) they'll have him next year, there is no doubting his talent
