Okay I'm the culprit! I admit it! I've been moving the Show & Tell threads where a member only links to a Ebay auction that they won!

Now onto the literal read of the following:

Hockey Show & Tell Forum

Post your Box Breaks, Mail Calls & Auction Wins

Now the other:

Hobby Shop

Steal of a Deal Forum

:) Post all of your steals from Ebay. (Formerly Snipers Anonymous)

Now am I being too literal with my read of the above?

Please give Feedback as too any other options that I might've left out?

Brian

My feelings are, if it is hockey related, has something hockey in it....why mess with it and move it. I know a lot of guys that stick to the section they are most interested in and don't really wander around the boards much, so it is nice to have everything right here in the hockey section, instead of needing to search 5 or 6 different forums just to find everybody's posts that pertain to hockey related items. My 2 cents at least.

Well...here is what i think...

You post it in the hockey forum because it is indeed hockey related and most of the time when it gets moved to the steal of a deal forum no one see's it, i can honestly admit, i dont frequently stop there to see what people picked up, i like seeing it in the show and tell

just an opinion brian..

I really don't mind either way, but showing links doesn't really do much for me, maybe if the picture was copied into the thread it would be different.

I see no need to over-police the board. If something is way off base then go ahead and move it otherwise what's the "big deal". If it's a Hockey related subject, or even something like a Vacation, Pics of a new baby, or whatever, I say great. That's my $.02. Mike

I am gonna follow suit here.
While I like organization, if its in the right sport forum, it should be able to stay wherever it is.

If someone posts a Baseball post in the Hocley threads, by all means move it. I think we could do away with a lot of sections here or combine them.

You're doing fine Brian. No need to feel as though people posting in an area other than the specific spot it was meant to be in should be a problem. Make sure hockey threads are in the Hocley forums, other sports/non sports are in their respective areas and we will all be fine with that.

Tom

I think this stemmed from my post :o

Brian, you're doing a good job. But I agree with what most have said - if it's hockey related, it's probably fine where it is.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks,
Jordan

Most of the time, I'd rather see the scan. If it's a link, I generally don't check them out. If they're that nice that you would like to show them off, wait until you actually have them and put them up.

Not really! I was reviewing how I've been doing as of late! And the Ebay auction posts have been a source of concern to me! Seeing as there moving has caused the membership to be bothered.

So, as we are a community here, I'm looking for feedback cause at times I'm pretty literal!

The way the board is set up now I click "New Posts" and it brings everything up. I could careless which forum it is in. I look for member names not the forum.

The good thing is these boards are nowhere near as bad as Beckett.

I agree with Mr. Guiseffi on this, sometimes less is more, no offense to you Brian, but if it ain;t really broke, don't fix it.
Dan.

Well coming from a guy who has had posts moved I'll just say this:

If it has hockey in it or is hockey related I say leave it be.

Like others have said the majority of our community frequents the hockey section. It is by and away the most popular area on the boards, namely the show and tell section.

I also like what Mike said. if one of us posts something a tad off topic from time to time (like baby pics, important personal happenings, etc, etc) we should really leave it.

I mean we're all big hockey fans, that's our area and that's where we go to see each other's stuff. We all support each other here (unlike Beckett) almsost an "extended family" of sorts. Also, unless someone objects, who cares? If a glut of people are outraged by a post and are beating down your door to have it moved, well the majority speaks then I guess. I say leave the power to the people, like you are doing here.

And by the way Brian, you are doing a pretty good job, I know it's tough and a lot of work and you are trying to keep everyone happy while playing by the rules. Keep it up dude! ;)

My view: eBay win/steal threads have been left in S/T for quite some time. Editing them because they've been bothering you is not a reason to change the entire dynamic of the hockey forum.

Please stop over-policing and over-editing the boards, Brian. We're good friends, but sometimes you have to state the hard truths, and this is my view.

If it's hockey related it should stay in the hockey area as this is where I think most hockey members spend their time. I hardly ever venture out of the hockey boards unless it is a different sport. I think the hockey boards are pretty mature and pretty much all posts here are hockey related in 1 way or another and should stay in the section.. Just my 3 cents :)

As I've opened myself up to this! As the ole saying goes, 'Those in glass houses shouldn't throw stones!"

Wes

Thanks for the insightful reply. I'll take this opportunity to have a bit of a rebuttal as you've forced the issue.

If you would have taken the opportunity to read the Poll question. I'm not asking whether or not you like to be edited for content! If I remember correctly, I've done this to you two or three times if my memory serves me correctly! One of those was as a lark which I apologized to you via a PM.

I'll take this opportunity to apologize to you formally for all to see.

I just thought that a post making reference to an assasination of a US polictical figure was a bit much. Especially as this is public media and those sort of comments are investigated fully by the USSS. Even if they are made in jest.

I don't count Merging posts as editing. Cause this hasn't been mentioned within this thread.

This thread was made to ask on the feelings of the community as it pertains to the Ebay Steal threads! Cause, I'm well aware where you stand in this regard.

As for me being bothered. Poor choice of words on my part. The context was that I was being bothered by the fact that a number of the community were taking issue with having their Steal of a Deal! auction thread Show/Tell posts moved to the Steal of a Deal forum. So the masses have spoken. Which is what the boards is all about.

Having served for over 20 years in the military. I'm pretty well rules orientated. So, I'll have to learn to allow some things to slid vice going by the letter of the law.

For all of you that took the time to voice an opinion on the poll at hand thanks for taking the time.

Brian
