Thrashers sign Hainsey

Great signing. I believe he is a cornerstone type dman who is also still quite young. He doesn't replace the dumb trade of Colburn but he helps!

Well, the Thrashers have to throw money out there to attract players to come to the south. ATL is in dire straits and need to desparately get itself back on track.

He is probably overpaid by about $2M, but who would willing come play DEFENCE for the Thrashers?

CBJ fans let me know what you thought of him....

BTW, I put up a trade thread for some of his rookies which I will need now....

Heavy money. Like Kovy said, Atlanta is not a hockey hotbed everyone has on their wishlist to be playing for. The guys that will come will do so for the money until the team is a legitimate contender.

It is the same for my team in football. No one wanted to come to New Orleans unless it was for a ridiculous pay cheque. Post Katrina the league was even extending the Saint's salary cap to allow them to be competitive with the rest of the league to attract free agents.

Hainsey is a solid pickup. He was the best D-man in Columbus last year, and Montreal has had a hard time finding somebody competent to replace him since he left...

Best Dman in columbus? Okay I will go with the higest scoring one but no where near the best D man...

He still can't consistanly get the point shot on net... he can make some rushes up the ice that will make you think that a forward just made that rush. For his size he seems to shy away from the big hits..

I liked him in Columbus and not excited to see him go....
