Tim Hortons?

Same guy as last year that made beckett take off the images due to copyright. Pretty sure he is a franchise owner that takes advantage of it.

Timmy's is a decent set, and in time will likely gain the same following as Mickey D. Canadian Tire could also gain momentum this way.

My concern is that these represent hobby dollars being pulled away from hobby shops. While I get the "brand exposure" and "introductory product" arguments, I haven't heard that this has translated to an influx of customers for hobby shops.

my thoughts exactly, it was brought up amongst many shop owners at the Upper Deck CDD conference in Orlando last year.

we love the Canadian Tire set, I just think they wouldve seen better sales if they offered the exact same style product in Hobby Shops.

we would love to sell packs/boxes at that price point that yield autos, parallels and serial #'d hits.

what makes it more frustrating, hobby shop owners probably contributed to 50% of the sales anyways, seeing as collectors were coming to us to complete sets ala Tim Hortons.

oh well, its not a perfect world.

Obviously, the product is virtually a 100% sellout for the stores so TH makes a chunk of $$$$ off the set but you are right, we had over $3k in Tim Hortons insert sales in the first month - not bad for a $450 2 box initial investment.

My viewpoint has always been that anything that promotes the hobby and brings new customers into the stores is a good thing. We are after all, a hobby - a nonessential product or commodity. I can't speak for all stores but I know we got another 15-20 strong customers who now are regular participants in our product releases and MEGA Group Breaks - they all started off as collectors trying to finish their TH set and I assume this is likely the case in most communities. And at the local card show - big sellers are the inserts.

The beauty of it all - There are Tmmies everywhere so the collecting of hockey cards gets tremendace exposure! Decent products help the hobby and get people interested in what else is available. It has also helped the older collector want to revisit the vintage sets they once collected - and we all win. New collectors means new customers and new great friendships!

So, I am a fan of TH each year. CTC as well. Epacks - not a chance.

well said scott

and yes tim hortons cards are ready to go I deliver to some stores and even have keys to some and seen the boxes of cards in their storage rooms

as for the ones on line , I hope its not a franchisee who is doing this, it would suck to lose their franchise over this if tim donut limited found out

To me that’s sketchy they have them already. That is unprofessional on timmies part.

I know someone that called Tim Horton's main office about that seller and was told that there is no way he has the cards in hand as all of the boxes are yet to be shipped out to the individual stores ( this was a few days ago). True or not, hard to say, but apparently she swore up and down that none had left the distribution center at that time.

I also heard that they have an end date for sales , so anything not sold by that date are to be retuned. Probably have that every year, and every year they sell out well before the end date.

ive seen them with my own eyes.... and it takes time to deliver product to tim hortons so I bet they had the cards for at least 2 weeks

there stationed in Guelph and not sure anywhere else ... but theres probably 1000 stores between Windsor and Guelph and most stores get 2-3 deliveries a week

Our local store don't have them in hand yet, said he may not even have them by the 25th launch date. Lets hope he does.

I think Tim's having cards is a great thing for the hobby. I live in a small rural isolated town, there isn't a card shop within 500km of here. There are 2-3 older collectors here but no kids. Since Tim's start selling cards we are having kid friendly trading nights where people (mainly kids) can trade to try and finish their sets. These kids end up buying storage boxes, penny sleeves, top loaders, binders, sets etc..... plus they are now interested in the hobby. Most have continued to buy their missing cards online to finish their sets. There is excitement around town again for this years cards. These kids may not go to an actual card shop but they are investing into their collections. A few dads have told me that they buy other card packs now for their kid as the kid loves it and the dads love that it gets the kids off the iphones, pads, games and computers. It's a win win, kids get cards, friends and a new hobby and mom and dad get coffee and to spend time with their kids.
