Tim Thomas: Big news forthcoming?

I heard (my source is a friend of mine who is a family friend) that Timmy will be unleashing some big news here in the near future.

There were no specifics, just "watch for it".

Any guesses?

Maybe he'll demand/force a trade but who would be the suitors?

Columbus? Chicago? I think he wants out of the Eastern Conference and to stay in the US.

But that wouldn't be until the 2014 election cycle. Too late to be running in 2012. Would seem an odd time to announce that.

Didn't the Bruins already ask him if he would waive his no trade clause? I thought he already said yes to the Bruins. I would assume its something different. He certainly has went from really popular with the fans to unpopular.

I really liked Tim Thomas. Laid back guy, always smiling, seemed like the kind of player that would be great for the fans.

Agreed! Two years ago almost any of the 30 teams would have loved to have TNT playing on their team.

I think there's alot of back-alley politicing going on that we will never hear about. I think his welcome has been worn out by the B's. Wow, how times have changed. :crazy: Stay tuned to the TNT show! :corn:

I also look forward to hearing all this. None of what he's done IMO justifies some of the terrible and anatomically impossible things I've heard Bruins fans saying to/about him, so I'm eager to hear what his plans are.

How would you feel if your team's owners and management say that you are doing a treat job every year and turn around and say that your unproven backups are the future of the team and are getting your job this season? Betrayed? I would! Like signing a long term contract with Philly! Wears on you after a few years of the same old bull.
Yes he is opinionated, he may be an a**, but he is a worker. He isn't as naturally talented as his past backups but he has proven his worth by working hard and being good when it counts, not a lot of "talented" goalies do that.
I hope if he does get traded, he makes that team an instant playoff contender.

As someone who watches a lot of B's games. I remember when Timmy first came on the scene at the ripe young age of 31. He was a career minor leaguer, only up due to injuries to Razor and Toivanen. He now has a Stanley Cup ring, Conn Smythe trophy, and two Vezinas.



All that aside, he is one of the most down to earth players in the game. (He is the RA Dickey of hockey). And up until his turned down meet'n'greet with Obama, not one person here or in the game said otherwise.


People just get finicky when players (or other people) dont act 'as planned' (like meet the Prez). Regardless of whether or not they have really done anything wrong. TT puts his family and 'real life' before the game. Other players (and fans) could actually learn a few things.
