Time to cry....lesson learned

Well I found my white whale listed on ebay. I have been looking for this card since it was first released. After years its the first one I have actually seen listed. Being stupid like I am instead of hitting BIN I make a very reasonable offer($40us). Mal talked me into buying it before someone else do, I go in to buy it and someone beat me to it. TIME TO CRY. Oh well only another few years to wait fo it to be listed again

Lesson is, when the one card you really want and have searched for (a true white whale not a weekly whale like most have) buy it.

Don't take offense to this... pretend I'm your best friend giving you a piece of advice here so don't get mad but.... your an idiot for not hitting the BIN lol! Especially considering you offered a price right next to the BIN... anyways

Just got in an red my PM's this morning and I feel your anguish

I followed my own advice shortly afterwards and hit a BIN on a Steve Thomas BAP Auto Gold # / 10 - I just couldn't let the opportunity pass.

If it's any consolation, I've got saved scans of a few of those Potvin wins patches - so they must show up every now and again. I can't guarantee you would find one for that price with that swatch though

Maybe it's god's way of saying you aren't meant to collect Felix Potvin and you should donate your collection to a worthy UK based cause

I'm only playing - really feel for you, would have been nice to see that sweet card head into a deserving player collection.

I emailed the buyer and he told me he also have been searching for that card forever. Its going deep into his personal collection however he did say if I need them he has some other Potvins he might trade/sell.

So at least something good may come from the situation - that's positive

I can't believe how many Potvin collectors there are - I know of at least 5 who have dumped collections, 3 that are on Beckett / HI and at least another 4 or 5 who frequently outbid me on Ebay.

Makes me quite proud to collect him - despite his not playing for two seasons

There are a ton of Potvin collectors. Anything rare or tough to find always sell really high. As you know even his low # or common stuff sells consistently but the older rare paralells are brutal to win. There is a new guy on ebay who is bidding like crazy on all Potvin stuff (especially the $20-50 stuff) torontowolfi_17 or something like that.

Yep - seen him on Ebay and cursed his name several times

I think the biggest shock I've had with Potvin prices was the 02 / 03 UD Artistic Impressions Retro Silver. They don't crop up very often - I've only seen 1 since I've been on Ebay ( which Vapen won ) and it went for over $30. I can't understand how that works when I won the Topps Pristine Refractor off you for $11

I wish I had unlimited funds, but I don't - I think I'm going to be taking a back seat on Ebay until the shark feeding frenzy has cleared

One day I'll suprise everyone with a big dollar purchase

Don't want to rub it in, but you missed quite a bargain here by not using the BIN..... The Potvin Patches usually go over $70, and they don't even look just as nice!

Hope you'll find one soon and send me a scan for my virtual collection of 2002-03 UD Mask Collection Patches (with this Potvin, I'm on 20.9%) LOL!!! Assume a scan of my copy offers at least some solace Regards, Patrick
