To ITG and Dr. Price - Where are these coming from?

I wold like to confirm that Terry Boyd from Big Boyd Sport Cards was very co-operative in my investigation of the source of these cards.

He was very professional in providing me the assistance I needed to move the investigation forward.

Thanks Terry.

In the future, if anyone purchases cards that are not numbered, these cards are not authorized by ITG.

Well done, Terry! I commend you for your cooperation.

Nice work, Brian! I can't tell you how comforting it is to know that an owner takes the lead in getting to the bottom of something like this, and in a very timely manner. Not only do you care about your products, but you care about your customers more so than any other owner in this hobby, and it shows.

Thanks for the follow up. Now for the more uncomfortable question, how many more cards were involved in this? If those Franchise cards weren't serial numbered from ITG out of the pack, we would have never known about them.

I have to believe more cards are involved in this, but we'll never know, because unless they're serial numbered, you can't tell the difference between the pack-pulled and the unauthorized cards.

Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful that Dr. Price followed this up, but I'm disappointed that it happened to begin with. This taints ITG a little bit in my eyes, and there are few bigger supporters of ITG than me.

Terry is a standup seller and someone I used to deal with quite a bit back in the AOL days (1996-1997). Glad to see that some things don't change. Good on you, Terry.

As the investigation continues, I can't help but hear space invaders music quicken the tempo as the fraudulent seller is about to be crushed by the ITG forces :D

Good luck Det. Price!

I do know that there were some BAP Signature Series Parallels that found their way onto ebay a few years back. I had a 00/01 Sapphire of Fedorov that was un-numbered and I remember the seller had a whole bunch of them. Unfortunately this was quite a few years back and I couldn't tell you who the seller was but I do remember they were getting huge premiums over the numbered versions.

Steve - There was also several sets worth of the 1999 Pearson inserts /300 that were showing up un-numbered for quite a while about 4-5 years ago. Likewise no idea who the seller was anymore. The other one that made me nervous was krukcards when they started listing 30-40 copies of all the 00-01 and 01-02 BAP SS SP autos at severely discounted prices.

Right now here is where things stand.

When these cards were made, all cards were serially numbered out of 30. The cards were made of plastic, thick plastic and the numbering was a Customer Service issue as soon as the product hit the market.

For that reason, we left the card overs at our printer/packager in Dallas so that if a collector sent us a card with a damaged number, we could email Dallas and have a new card with that number shipped to us and then sent to the customer.

Six years ago that company was sold and we tried one product with the new company that took over the facility and were not satisfied with their work. We asked that any and all materials belonging to us (cards, waste, packaging, tape, foil, over-wrap, plates etc) was shipped to us.

We got many skids of materials sent to us and until this thread was posted I gave this matter no further thought.

Once I was aware of the situation, I contacted the eBay seller who had the cards, he told us who he bought the cards from. That seller also co-operated with us and told us who he bought the cards from. That is where we are now, trying to contact the person who sold the unnumbered, unauthorized cards to the eBay seller and finding out where he bought the cards.

Hopefully, once we get in contact with him, we can finally find out how these cards made it into the market. Although I have an idea and you might from this post, I don't want to jump to conclusions, especially if legal action might have to be taken.

I am trying to do whatever I can to understand exactly what took place but these cards were made over ten years ago. I am surprised that these cards just started to surface last summer.

I will keep everyone posted as soon as there is any new information.
