Top 3 players: How are they still in the NHL?

I will go with:

Eric Boulton
Doug Weight
Luke Richardson

Not a fan of seeing any of them. I was actually going to go to some Islanders games this year until Weight signed...

Weight is terrible - about all he can do is move the puck around on the powerplay but other than that he is a complete liability - when he gets on the ice even strength you will see the other team get their top unit out immediately. He poses no threat offensively and can't keep up defensively.

It would be hard for me to put him in the overall bottom three as he can still play the powerplay and has some leadership but he's pretty close to useless.

I would throw Hatcher in there as well and Dan Cloutier - I know he isn't on a roster right now but he was all last year and is still getting a paycheck - he has no business even close to the league right now.

Weight is still servicable, though not a first liner anymore by any means. Havlat looks very good when he isn't hurt. Kilger's not a bad 4th liner.

Zednik has still got gas in the tank. He was on fire last season before the accident.

1 - Wade Belak - can't play or fight
2 - Mattias Norstrom - doesn't bring energy, just collects a pay check
3 - Alex Auld - may need laser eye surgery to see the puck

Handzus of the La Kings is done for sure. He is the highest paid player (4 million) on the team and amased a whopping 4 goals! There are to many guys to list so I went with my top pick. :|:|:|

Here in lies the problem. Has the guy ever played a full season? For the amount of money he makes, he is a megatastic waste. Can you say Eric Daze?

He's a better player than Daze. Havlat has shown he can be an upper-echelon player when heatlhy. Daze was never that.

I'm going to pick someone from each of my teams and then do one person from the league in general.

Detroit - Kirk Maltby - His best years are behind him; this season he was not as effective of a checker/grinder that he used to be. No ill will from me, but I think it's time to hang em' up.

Tampa - Mathieu Darche - Hopefully he'll get cut in training camp; he was garbage the entire season. I'm puzzled as to how he stayed on the roster for a whole season with his 28 games and 2 points in the league since 2000.

At large - Derian Hatcher. He's done good things in the past, but he also used to not get dangled every time someone was up against him.

Jamie Lundmark (though he's a year removed)
Jeff Friesen (Hang them up!)
Teppo Numminen (After multiple surgeries, is his heart still in it?)

Honorable Mention: Chris Chelios

You got it Buddy.
Lundmark is a BUM!!!!! He is actually the smartest player in the NHL because I can't figure out how he convinced someone to pay him to play hockey. :|

I spy a lot of names that, while they certainly would make the top 20 or so, are still serviceable players.
My list?

1) Andrew Peters ~ the chump brings nothing to the Sabres squad when he's dressed.
2) Alexi Zhitnik ~ seriously, even the Russian/Euro league would only give him a temporary contract, and from Atlanta's perspective, it might be the best thing that's happened to them in team history.
3) Darcy Tucker ~ this goes against my prior statement a bit.. while I believe he is a serviceable player yet, I feel that he pulls too much trash in this game. He's a high caliber cheap shot artist, and there's no place for it in the NHL.
