Top 5 Goalies to Watch in 2010-11

What people often misses (you seem to have forgotten it too) is that Anderson collapsed badly at the end of both regular season and playoffs. If you compare his first four playoff games to his last two, you'll see a huge difference. Same thing if you check his March against the first half of regular season.

I certainly didn't forget it, it's hard to forget being atop the West for about a month or two, then a slow but steady decline into eighth. Which is why I mentioned sharing more time with Budaj, Andy set a record of starts for the franchise, beating out all of Roy's starts.

Still, he played WELL above expectations, he was pretty unproven (Still is, actually) and he came out of the gate strong.

This year Anderson will be more used to playing as a full time starter, and sharing a bit more time with Budaj. Hopefully, ideally, this will work out well for the Avs.

Anderson is basically a sophomore now. He was pretty much a rookie last season, being a goalie in NHL and being a starter in NHL are two very different things. Budaj excels in the first one, he's probably the best backup goalie in NHL, and I mean a goalie that is nothing more than a backup. He plays greatly at times and he handles the backup position wonderfully with cheering etc. The other side of coin is that as soon as you rely on him, he collapses.

For me Anderson didn't play that much better than earlier in his career. The only thing he did differently was that he was able to do more of the same. Compare his save% and win-loss ratios and GAA and shutout-averages (games played per a shutout) to his earlier career and you'll notice that the season wasn't that special for him what comes to an average game statistically. But this doesn't say he's bad now, this says that he wasn't worse earlier. A bit more consistency and he's in the fight for Vezina.

If Price wins 40 games i will probally be getting a few `I told you so` and bragging rights for the next 5 years.

I need a new sig a la Fight Night with the Shane The Great vs Drkicker challenge.:giggity:

I agree, we need to come up with a real wing-dinger. I'll have to suck back some cold ones and see what I come up with :)

I'll be happy with both goalies getting to 40!

Andersen, like Tim Thomas, was a late bloomer who may enjoy one or two more productive seasons. Niemi and Halak are the most interesting to me. Affter having remarkable playoff runs each were promptly shown the door. How will they respond?

Price has shown he is too tempermental for Montreal. Unless he stands on his head in the first month, he's done.

Rask is good, but he has the luxury of a good D in front of him.

Lehtonen, I'd love to see him have a big year.

Can Elliott carry the Sens?

Anyway, my favorite comments:

Are the Flyers kidding me? Michael Leighton for an entire season? NOOOOO

How much gas is left in Marty's tank?

The 2 most productive goalies in the league: Ward and Miller

The guy who is the coolest? Lundqvist

DiPietro and that God awful building are 2 reasons the Isles will suck for a another long season

Top 5 to watch in my mind is a "no-brainer"......

1.Price - Last chance Carry. Step up or embrase the bus ride.
2.Halek - Will he excel in St. Louis? If he does, Price's critics in Montreal will make things worse.
3.Bernier - Star ready to shine. (Hopefully in Philly by trade deadline).
4.Turco - Can Marty be the man?
5.Luongo - Everyone says he's the best. Is this the year he proves it?
