Toronto Expo! < One week away

quick question, I know it will vary table to table but is it all cash only or do some have debit and credit and the like as well?

I don't know about debit but there are some dealers that accept credit cards as well as some that will take paypal as well. There is a debit machine by the front doors but from past experiences it has a tendency to empty out pretty quickly.

The majority of the vendors take CASH. Although some will advertise that they're able to do Interac or credit card. However, it was my experience that they will request the credit card fee as part of the transaction.

The Instabank machines (in the venue) get emptied quite quickly. You're better off stopping at a machine at one of the banks along the way and grabbing some cash. If you use your bank, then you'll be saving the fees.

can you bring outside food/drinks in to the expo?

You can bring your own drinks and food. I have done it every year without an issue. I suggest bringing a ****load of water..I go through cases of it when I am at the show

A lot of sellers will take Paypal. But please be aware that there are fees for accepting Paypal just like you would for credit card purchases. Don't be alarmed if one or more sellers ask you to cover that fee since you are picking up the products from their tables.

I kind of want to bust a box of UD1 so I can grab a Priority Signings card, how big and how long of a line am I looking at?

Based on the going to the expo for the last 8 years, the line ups are super long for UD priority signings. I have had friends wait for upwards of 2 hours in line. I made a decision about 4 years back that I wouldn't stay in line ever again.

This is one thing that ITG and Panini do very well. Those are a lot quicker than I ever expected and were always accessible. Just my two cents.

UD's redemption program is a joke. Only open 2 hours per day and only one redemption per person per day. Last year on the Sunday after the first hour there was no line left and their certified dealers were left sitting with redemption vouchers and product not moving. I tried to hit the line up a few times that day, buying from the authorized dealers and getting redemption vouchers each time yet was kicked out of line (I wasn't taking redemptions from other people, people were not buying the product any more at that point, don't know why) on I believe it was my third try through. You would think they'd want people to support the authorized dealers by buying the product and that they would think twice about the rules in the last hour on the last day when stuff had stopped selling but I guess not.

ITG and Panini both do very good jobs with their redemption lines.

*EDIT: UD does have a very interesting idea for their expired redemptions at the expo and I may take them up on that and see how that goes.

The simplest solve for this issue is that they should allow for customers to bring their box to the redemption booth with the voucher and a sealed box. All the rep needs to do is cut the plastic wrap on the hobby box and remove the plastic and hand out a priority signings card and continue moving the line.
For those customers who choose to stay and rip they can be shown the way to a box ripping table and continue their journey through the redemption process. Just a thought, but I think it would work quite well.

I'll be there setup with Gamebreakers again - I believe they're at 301-303 but basically end of the second aisle near where the corporate booths start.

another expo question.

For the redemptions, you have to buy a box of a current new release to get a redemption, right? So, for ITG, it'd likely be Superlative and maybe Forever Rivals. So I can't say buy a box of 07/08 H+P and get a redemption, correct?

Correct - ITG will announce their specific redemptions soon if they already haven't. Check the details out and plan accordingly. Nothing worse than buying the wrong product and not being able to participate in the program.

Room booked and I am IN for the weekend.
I'll be there Thursday (Lonestar), Friday, Saturday and possibly Sunday.
Tension is building up as the Expo weekend nears!
Also bringing my box of goodies to swap.

I'm not sure if I'm going, but can someone remind me, and others, of the better/cheaper hotels in the area? I remember I stayed at the hotel next door to the Pearson Airport last year and it was $170+ a night.
