I started out Friday by grabbing a box of UD1 for $90 CDN and heading straight to the UD booth. I ran into Steve (Fed-Rules) in line, and the UD guy said the redemption session had ended and that we would have to come back at 5pm. Steve went back to his booth, but I decided to stay and watch the last few guys rip their boxes. The UD guy sitting at our table told me to go ahead and rip 
I ripped so fast that I didn’t pay much attention (honestly I was just watching for a Penguin rookie like every other box ripper), but when I finished I received a Andrew Raycroft Priority Signings (woohooo).
I also saw Jordan (hockeycardguy9) briefly as I made my way to talk with Moe (West’s Cards) as he wanted to talk Staals with me. He really is a knowledgeable guy and very easy to deal with.
After that I went to Gamebreakers, and as always they treated me like royalty. Wish I had more stuff that you guys were interested in, but had fun nonetheless. I’ll be sending an e-mail about the other stuff we discussed later this week.
I basically just wandered the rest of Friday until the UD raffle started. My ticket was 1 number off for the Poker Chip set!!!! Same old, same old…
Saturday was a lot of fun as I got to meet and talk with a lot of hobby people. I still missed out on a few, but glad I met so many. I did the UD/Beckett thing around lunch and thought it was great on many levels. We had about 5 tables of collectors and UD people, with each table having some wax to break. I got stuck with Steve (Fed-Rules) at my table, and he wrestled the pack containing Crosby from me (my version of the story only
) (WAY TO GO STEVE!!), plus Mike (mathomet, which is actually pronounced “em-at-home-t”).plus 2 other board members. Now I’m an old guy to cut me some slack, but guys, I can’t recall the names, really sorry about that. We also had Karvin from UD (Product Development) sit with us so that made it all the more fun. We all had some good laughs and enjoyed the cost-free ripping. As mentioned, Steve got the Crosby, but the rest of our table was pretty average (except Karvin opened a HG of Thornton and a patch of Giguere!!!!). All in all it was very interesting to hear so many different opinions. I’ll let the guys sitting at the other tables talk about their experiences.
After that, I swung by Singer Cards where the 3 A-STEVE-O’s (circa 3 Amigos) hung out. I was truly a pleasure to me Steve A (Quincy). We had a bit of a chat, then I took one of his boxes to the booth to crack for him. When I got in line, I stood behind these 2 guys that looked like trouble (kidding!!!), but they brought new meaning to the saying Wild Wild Wes. Yup, Wes44 and PenaltyMan, the 2 Wes’s right in front of me. We had lots of time to chat, and I had a total blast. Thanks to the young guys for letting me talk them up so much. It really was fun. While busting Steve’s box, PhilM dropped by to watch me finish off a rather lack-luster box (sorry again Steve!). I returned to Q without peeking at the Priority Signing, so when he pulled a Gretzky 1 of 1 it was pretty cool….NOT!!!! hahaha it was a Matt Stajan /70.
After that, I strolled around some more and came across this desolate looking booth, nobody shopping there, and the owner looking like a lost puppy needing it’s owner!!! LOLOLOL, so I chatted it up a bit with Cory (Will-411) and dropped the last of my cash on UD1 rookies.
Other people I met but didn’t get much of a chance to talk was Sprague, Leaf67?, TripleB, CJ, Wayne (Bailey’s SportscardS, and yes Wayne it was me that gave you that Gabby jersey card), ChoppinBrocolli, FrankToronto, Braden Hunt, Erik Brown, Al Muir, Chris from UD...crap guys, I know I met at least 6-10 other guys, but hang my head embarrassingly…..too many parties in my youth!! It was a pleasure meeting you all. 
Oh yeah, one other thing I grabbed were some Hartford Whaler patches. I have done a custom job on a Staal OPC rc patch (NEVER for sale so relax!!), and now I want to do some Whalers players too.
I walked out of the show only $200 poorer than when I entered on Friday, but came out with a lot more than that in value. I really enjoy being part of this community, even if I am the old man on the hill
I will try to post some of my trade acquisitions a little later

. That Thornton HG checklist is making its way to the collection of Dave Papa (thanks Karvin & Chris Carlin for making that happen). Hope everybody had a blast and got some sets finished, see you all next spring! -Mike
