Verified Trader,
Hey Guys, yesterday i got word of the Leafs Equipment Sale via Tyler Bozak's twitter, and i was kind of obligated to go. The sale was this morning at 10 am at the ACC/Real Sports Building (Real Sports is where the lineup was) . My sister got there just before me and got into line at 7:30 am , where she was already the 52nd person. The first 40 people were allowed admission into the Leafs' dressing room first, then the rest were brought in in groups of 20 or 30.
Being the second group wasn't too bad, though according to one of the guys working there, i missed out on the only pair of Grabovski skates
. Other players had 3-8 skates each, but zero Grabovski for me to take home.
Didn't take alot of pictures, but here's the show!
How are you going to tease me like that.. not one GU Grabovski stick for sale, these ones were locked up. They had a whole boatload of his sticks for sale in the other dressing room, but they were clearly not game used, just issued to him .
Here's me at my boy's locker. The gamer sitting behind me was $600.. i didn't quite have enough lol. One thing that was deceiving is that the GU pants didn't necessarily correspond to the player's locker. That could've been the case for a few players, but almost none of the pants had any player names/number written in or on them. It was kind of frustrating to be honest.
Here i am posing it up with Grabovski's shoulder padding.
and here's a quick look at what i managed to bring home with me :
The Grabovski shoulder pads that i mentioned earlier. I was really, really lucky with this one because in the middle of the room they had two boxes full of shoulder pads and what not, and almost NONE of them had any numbers written on them . Not only did this one have a number, but a good one to boot. Big props to my sister for locating this one for me , she was my eyes on this trip as i was star struck.
A pair of Nikolai Kulemin GU Gloves. I was able to photomatch them already, due to a hole on his right pinky finger
. My pictures aren't really too in depth , but there are a bunch of rips and a few holes on this pair!
There's the photo match. It's easy to tell when you have the gloves in hand, impossible based on the photo i provided about lol. ( Photo is of March 5th)
Next..
A pair of Tomas Kaberle skates! I was torn between getting this a few other items, but since it was his last year in Toronto, i thought it would be easier to obtain some of the other players' items in the future. There were a few other pairs to choose from of his, but i found these ones to have the most blemishes.
And lastly:
Along with the Shoulder/chest protector , i can only attribute these items to my sister. She knew that i was in there pretty much only for his stuff and boy was i happy that she had eagle eyes haha. As you can tell, these bad boys are REALLY beat up, which i find awesome. I found a photomatch for this one as well....
(January 10th, i believe)
The marks above the first "e" in the Reebok logo, as well as under the "o" give it away.
Well, i had a blast and highly recommend any equipment sales to anyone, even if you're not a Game Used collector.
As always, contact me if you see any Grabovski haha! Thanks!
