I got this message from a friend of mine today - guy here in Kelowna had his card collection stolen and among it was a lot of Linden stuff. If you see anything online please let me know:

f you see a local influx of Trevor Linden hockey cards and several older hockey sets, let me know. Lots of the Linden cards were 1/1's. A friend had his house broken into last night and he lost his whole collection.

I received a message from him as well. When you say he has a lot of Linden items....he has A LOT of Linden items. Dozens of 1/1's including a lot of recent Leaf plates and nearly all the Topps Gold Label 1/1's from the late 90's.

This is terrible news as I have know the collector for a long time and have been fortunate to deal with him many times in the past.

I will try to put together a list of known cards with serial #s in this thread as I have documentation of all his 1/1s. If he has any other super rare items I will do my best to get the word out as well.

Hopefully this can somehow find a happy ending.
 
Not saying he didn't take the necessary precautions, but it's an unfortunate reminder to get a security system installed.

Yeah, and apparently four gamers involved as well. Sounds like he has the Meigray numbers for a couple at least.
 
Brutal. I hate hearing things like this. Just terrible that people do this to others.

Definitely post as much info here as you can. This community always does everything it can to help out in situations like this.

It happened to a local friend of mine with a security system and insurance and he ended getting like 15 cents on the dollar for his vintage collection from the insurance company!
Read your insurance policy regarding actual value and know who has access to your household.
In this case it was a friend of the bonded cleaning service and most of it had already been disposed of. He was able to retrieve some of the #ed graded cards.

Not sure if he had his place locked up tighter than Fort Knox or if he left the windows open at night...not really concerning myself with that at this time. I'm just going to let as many people in this hobby know about the situation.

He has a large number of low print # cards and I am hoping he has documentation on specific serial #'s. That would help immensely in recovering this collection as I have no doubt these cards will surface at some point.
 
Guys ,Right now,it doesn't matter security system or not, it's done....it's disgusting!!!!!

Many of you remember when I got broke into and got my main collection stolen and I remember that feeling of being violated.....It's the worse. Really this person needs all eyes on the look out both in his area and online. Not all but alot of thieves are not the brightest and something will pop up for sure. In my case,I didn't get all back but most and it was all because my local LCS called me saying someone tried to sell him some of my stuff.Got the ball rolling and the police did the rest. It did make me take precautions now but that was my journey

Does he have scans? Police? Get that word out cause I will guarantee something will break for him

Agreed that it is a reminder to keep your collectibles protected and if that includes installing a security system in your home, then so be it.

I had Vivint installed in my house and love their system and recommend it.

junyab never played any blame game, he just said that it is a security reminder, so no need to pile on him any more.

Now back to helping recover this Linden collection! My heart bleeds for the victim!
 
I really feel for the guy too. I experienced loss in a number of ways - but particularly I have lost everything I had, including my original card collection in a fire. I've had stuff stolen from me as well. So I can totally relate to the victim and my heart goes out to him. I don't know if time heals all wounds, but things do improve, it just takes time.
 
Wow, hoping he can track down some of his collection again. I always hate to hear stories like this. I know it's just material things at the end of the day, but this whole situation is just awful.

I feel for him.

And thanks for posting this to let everyone know about this. The more eyes on this the better.
 
Oh man...sad news indeed!

I look forward to seeing the list of known cards and hopefully provide the owner some much needed good news.
 
Oh that´s so terrible and disgusting to hear about. I will help you if someone tries to sell me unusual / very hard to find Linden cards then I contact you. Take care man. I know it feels terrible.

Guys, guys. Not trying to be a dick and saying it was his fault. But it's a good reminder that we should do everything we can to protect our investment, just like any other investment.

I was reviewing my own house insurance and realized my collection was only covered up to a certain amount ($1000 to be exact). I called my rep and had it increased for a few pennies more a month. Totally worth the call and I sleep better at night.
 
I received more information today....

"Fortunately, they missed the 2015-16 and 2016-17 box, so those cards are all there, except 10 or so that were not cataloged and laying on my desk.

I also lose 5 jerseys, 2 were Miegray authenticated, the Away Washington Capital game, Canuck Home 2006-07, and 2012-13 practice jersey.

I am just starting to check what else is missing. I had a box of assorted rookie cards, the most notable would be the 2001-02 Titanium hobby jersey numbered."

He has also sent off a detailed list of his Linden collection (serial numbers, etc.). I will share some of the more rare cards in hopes that when these cards do surface (and I am confident they will), someone will catch it quick.

I am happy to do what I can to help get the word out and ask that others share this information with local stores and at shows. Thanks.

I hope all dealers from the expo and summit print this list and make sure all dealers from the expo or summit have a copy handy...... just in case

also forward the list to every card shop, card show you know of

lets try and track this stuff down
 
Hey,

Definitely devastating news. As you feel that empty, lost feeling. Hopefully these will be found and returned someday. As someone worked hard to own and assemble such an amazing collection. Let's all keep our eyes open.

I will definitely keep an eye open on the Facebook groups, as there seems to be quite a bit of action on there. Lots of collectors, and lots of cards being sold/traded/razzed.
