Hey,

I was hoping someone could tell me more about the UD 20th Anniversary Buyback cards. There is a Cujo on ebay right now:

AUCTION

How rare are these? Have any "print runs" been released? I am assuming these could be pulled out of 10/11 UD Series 1, am I correct?

Any information on these cards would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Connie

I was also scrambling this morning for info, of course for the Vernon.
What I've found is:

Only French versions have been confirmed.

Qty 2 - UD 20th Anniversary Buyback cards per 2010-11 UD Series 1 FRENCH hobby box (Insert rate 1:12 packs)

The entire 1990-91 UD Series 1 FRENCH set (all 400 cards, ?unknown if the High set was also used?) was stamped with the 20th Anniversary logo.

Boils down to an estimated 30 stamped cards for each of the 400 cards of the 1990-91 UD french set.

I'm going to assume that they'll save HI series for series 2?

If they do a series 2, the numbers won't work the same - the original set was 400, HI numbers were 150. From what we've been told so far UD II this year is going to be 300 cards...

I haven't looked at which buybacks are available on ebay yet, but are there any #'d more than 250? Maybe they only put the first 250 in UD I, and the next 300 in UD II?

Talking with one of the Reps for a few minutes @ the Expo.....

They're going to do a 'normal' modern base set for Series 2. Cards 251-450 will be the base, and 451-500 will be the Young Guns.

Those cards will all have retro parallels, but they will also include reto cards numbered 501-550. Not parallels... they will only be available as retros. Going to consist of HOFers, All Stars, WJC. The 'subset' cards that they don't realy make anymore.

I would suspect the French set would be the same. I would assume the buybacks are going to be 400 / 150 - and they'll find something else to add 'value' to the Series 2 French.

Cory,
I opened two boxes of Upper Deck Series 1 (French) yesterday and three of the four BuyBacks are numbered #276 Stephane Richer, #277 Mike Gartner and #333 Brent Hughes.
Based on early breaks I've seen, they are inserted two a box, are silver stamped with certificatification and the problem is they are in soft sleeves which makes them quite easy to find.
Best is to buy a sealed box which currently sells for the same price as the previously released English version.
Lastly, from two boxes, I was able to complete one BASE set #s 1 - 200.
