UD Architect to Hobbyist?

Karvin

Any problems I have had with UD have always been sorted out by you.

It has been great to know you in your capacity as an UD employee but I look forward to finding out more about you and your collecting habbits.

A change can be a great thing, good luck for the future

Pete

we've only emailed briefly a couple times but you're definitely an asset UD will be missing out on. best of luck on any future endeavors.

Karvin, just want to wish you all the best in your future endeavors. You always remained a voice of reason between the collector and UD and your work was very much appreciated.
I think one of your best traits is your level of class that you exhibited in all situations, and we know they weren't always the nicest circumstances.
Hope to see you at the Expo.

Thanks for everything.
Dan.

Hiya Karvin, not to derail this and make it seem like you're right back working for them but any hints or specific email addresses we can use if we are being ignored. I have been emailing literally since July 2009 with no responses. Have called a couple times with "promises" to look into things and get back to me which of course never happens.

Either way great to have you around on the boards. Be interesting to see who or what sets you land on collecting..

I bet Panini is hiring. Someone with firsthand knowledge of how "not" to run a company would surely be welcome there.

thx for helping over the past several years.

Karvin, we've never met or talked, but it's easy to see that you are respected by those who are passionate about their hockey card collecting. All the best in your future endeavors, and enjoy your "down" time before you re-enter the working world. Hopefully you can make it to the Calgary show.

Ditto to what Al said... we've never met, but I've heard lots of good things about you. Hopefully you can make the big show coming up in Calgary and good luck in your future endeavours!

Karvin, I am honored to have been able to deal with you on a personal level.

The utmost respect for you. Take care and good luck with whatever life brings you. Hope to see you at some shows.

Hey Karvin,
Although it saddens me to see you leave UD (you were the one keeping things from being an absolute disaster), I'm happy you'll be staying with us in the hobby. I've always had great discussions with you and you've been more than helpful when I've had issues with CS. Thanks again for everything you've done for us over the years. It will never be forgotten

Good luck my friend and I hope to see you soon

Frank

Hi Karvin, By the way, I think I can speak for most of the site when I say we are eagerly awaiting the photobucket link to YOUR PC and tradebucket. Honestly, it can't get much better than that I suspect.
Cheers,
Jim
P.S> If you know where I can find a stash of 06/07 Beehive Remarkable Matted Materials /15, I do have a bit of a habit...:giggity:

Karvin,

I'm both thrilled for you and saddened for the rest of us that Upper Deck no longer has you fighting inside the building for us. You and I butted heads a number of times -- hell, you might not even like me -- but I respected the job you did and I respect you for both doing it and knowing when to get out.

I want to share something with the rest of you. Karvin and I once spent more than an hour arguing in HI chatroom about an issue. The next day, Karvin called me at my store (we were closed) and we spent another hour and a half discussing that same issue. We both raised our voices a couple of times, but in the end I understood Karvin's position better, and hopefully he understood mine better also. I can think of very few people in this world who are passionate enough about their jobs and their industry to take that time to make their points heard, especially over a loudmouth like me.

Karvin, good luck to you, let me know where I can buy you dinner on Thursday night at the Expo, and if Panini or ITG needs a reference, have 'em call me. :)

I'm saddened that UD has lost you, Karvin. You've been a light in the dark for many of us, even if it's only been once or twice (as in my case). Although many of us haven't gotten a chance to know you as well as a few others here have, I think I can speak for everybody in saying we look forward to all you can contribute to this community!

On a related note, does anybody else doubt that we're witnessing the sinking of the Titanic in Carlsbad? In addition to all the other shenanigans (real and rumored) taking place, if good people like Karvin are leaving, there's no doubt in my mind we're about to witness the end of UD (at least in its present form)...

welcome to the boards in a collectors capacity.Searching for older products of the team/player/players you collect will be an adventure .
Jeff

although we never dealt with each other directly,it seems by the comments of the elders here you were one of the few trying to get things done properly at UD,kudos for that.enjoy your new found freedom and welcome back to the collecting side of things.might i suggest a box or two of ITG Heroes & Prospects or Between the Pipes for your first wax busting endeavor??

Karvin, it was nice to meet you at the Winter Classic, you did your best trying to satisfy the mass amount of collectors and our complaining :)

I hope you land on your feet sooner than later.

Hey Karvin. I was sorry to hear the news a few days ago that you were leaving UD. Through all of our dealings, before and after I became a member of the Diamond Club, you always treated me with respect and really seemed to care about things. You have always been a good friend to me and were always willing to talk to me about the hobby and UD even though you weren't CS! I respect your decision to leave UD and I am glad that you were able to leave on your own terms unlike some of your colleagues that I also had the pleasure of knowing. I have to say that UD has a lost key asset and it won't be possible to ever completely fill your shoes at UD. In my opinion, Chris' job has become a lot more difficult now that you have left UD. Best wishes in all of your future endeavours and I really hope that we will meet up again sometime when you get back up to my neck of the woods in Mississauga/Oakville. Good luck my friend in everything that you do!

Cheers!
Tim Caldwell

Hey Karvin - I read the news on the UD Diamond Club site that you have left UD. Good luck to whatever endeavors you undertake after UD. Your efforts were greatly appreciated by me and other hobby collectors!
