So for the first time I had a damaged card that was worth the time/cost/hassle of dealing with support, mailing a card with tracking etc. I'm sure the replacement is better than keeping the damaged card, but I'd have much rather had my original card in mint condition. Interested to hear your thoughts as I'm not fully informed about what I got back.

So as per policy both cards have the same BV, but of course I had a 3 colour patch of a rookie with a current premium vs a superstar auto from an older set where value is based on being an SP. again I'm not up to speed on 07-08 SPA, so not sure how tough this Lemieux really was? Would appreciate any insight.

For my two cents I would have wanted the McDavid. There are a ton of Mario autos out there and you had a very nice multi color patch from McDavid's rookie year.
 
Tough call on this, but I think at least in terms of resale you probably lost on this one. In terms of a card to hold onto, the Lemieux is pretty nice though too.
 
That might be a SP there. I cracked about five cases trying to hit Quick FWs and I never got a Lemieux SOTT. I don't see any for sale on eBay either.
 
Yeah. Long term, I think you made out very well. While it might sell for more now, the McDavid isn't very attractive and in a year or two will plummet in value.
 
The 07-08 SOTT set was loaded up with SP's and I think Mario may have even been a set killer for some people. You'll want to get in touch with aweeks - she put it all together and I think Lemieux was one of the last cards she grabbed.
 
I was 5 cards away from completing the 07-08 set and Mario was one of the hardest ones to get besides Sid. I was have given a lot to get it. Back in the day I paid 350 for Sid and was willing to pay that or more for Mario. But I ended up parting the set to help a few others complete there's so it was fun. I would say you made out better IMO but than again it's my opinion
 
Josh, I'd be good with it - the Lemieux is an SSP if IIRC. And I'll always take a hard-signed A level HOF auto over photo-shoot patch any day
 
I'd have to say in the bigger picture you did well. That Lemieux is tough to find and is an easy one to sell or trade.
 
That Lemieux is harder to find than rocking-horse scat. There's at least a few set builders hunting that puppy. While I concede that the McDavid is more obviously sexy, you've been fairly compensated here.
 
Awesome feedback as usual - key being that the Lemieux is truly an SSP and not just a somewhat short print that would hit a typical auto value. I think I was initially a tad disappointed as I've been sucked into the "Rookies are awesome" mentally, whereas I always used to value veteran hard signed over everything else. Thanks for the reminder!
 
In my opinion that's a great replacement . I was working on that set at one point and can tell you that the sp's were really tough pulls. What are you looking to get for it?
