UD Series 1 delay November 18th

So this means we're going to have photoshoot YG similar to Rick Nash and some of the 2002 YG crop or did UD get them on the ice for scrimmage pics in a practice rink kinda like Duchene and Hedman's YG? I'd prefer the former if that was the case. To me the practice rink pics look pretty bad.

Agreed, but given UD posted a "hype" video about Lafreniere that was him skating on a practice rink, it looks as though they might have taken the easy way out. Really hoping that is not the case, but it isn't looking good.

How is this a surprise to anyone? UD always has to get Series One out for the Expo which means that they have an early November hard deadline to hit. With no Expo this year they don’t have that deadline.

I was predicting to local friends that this would happen. It was one product that was never late thanks to the Expo.

Artifacts has also been delayed with no official release date now.

That makes a lot of sense for us collectors actually. Many of the bigger hits in the product are the redemption rookies with all of the parallels. To maximize value we should have a good idea as to who the team’s redemptions are for.

I'm going to give UD a lot of grace on this one... it's a f-ing pandemic. There's tons of logistics we don't know anything about, any one of which could be out of their control. I have no doubt they are just as disappointed and are trying to do everything that they can to make this happen with as few hitches as possible.

I think this delay was completely expected (along with many others). It kinda sucks to have Series 1 and other 2020-21 releases when hockey is still a few months away.

Covid has de-stabilized supply chains in every sector of the economy. I think UD deserves a break on this one, lol.

This was the day after I put in my order for my boxes...of course it's delayed. Seriously though, the whole season remains in jeopardy. I'm assuming the released date is pretty tentative at this date.

Do we have any word on the checklist yet? I'm hoping if the checklist is weak, UD will make up for it with other value somehow.

Anyone who made their debut from the cutoff - Christmas break until the pause will be eligible. As well any players who went into the bubble were also eligible for RCs. So players like Nick Robertson, Philip Broberg, Bowen Byram and Peyton Krebs should have rookies as well as those who are in OPC and MVP already. It will be interesting if Kiril Kaprizov, Ilya Sorokin and Alexander Romanov will be eligible to be in sets, even though they were ineligible to play.

And the question about Lafreniere will be, will it be a Young Gun, or a Canvas Young Gun as an insert for Series 1. I don't know if UD has definitively said he will have a Young Gun - the only thing I'm sure of is that he will make an appearance

The last #1 pick eligible to be included in Series 1 as a Young Guns RC that was pushed to Series 2 was Ovechkin, which was done for obvious reasons at the time. I'd be shocked if they chose his Canvas over his YG for Series 1.

Well said. I agree on all points.
