UD series II hype??? WHY???

Ok you guys are awesome at resolving my ignorance when it comes to some trends in the hobby, please help yet again.

10/11 UD series II, Why is it so popular? I understand the lack of production, blah, blah, blah, Everything I have seen lately from it tells me they need to make even less. The jersey cards are about as plain and boring as they get and the swatches they come with are just as ordinary as the cards themselves.

This is just my opinion, I hope you guys can tell me i have been missing the big pull posts and that the product has some awesome stuff hidden in a short production.

I've truthfully been a HUGE fan of the retro cards, especially the Missing Link "RCs" of Martin Brodeur and Eric Lindros. I only wish this was a standalone set and not a parallel. That being said, the production run is what really makes this set. If only companies got that more ISN'T better...

It was a case crackers dream for the most part. Not only did you get your usual 72 ygs including a full set but most cases had numerous case hits. Out of the 18 boxes I saw opened in our store from 2 different cases I saw 4 patches, 5 platinum exclusives /10, 3 rookie breakouts and at least 1-2 exclusives per box. All the extra value caused demand to go up and they had already cut production so the price has sky rocketed. Our pre-order price was about $35 cheaper than the going rate.

I agree man the retro cards are awesome and remind me of the good ole days of collecting, when a RC was the big deal. I too agree with less is more but I think many products have done well with that recently and in the past it seemed like UD (reg issue) was not the case, maybe they will turn it around. All said great point on the retro YG!
