Here is the lineup for what has been widely regarded as top to bottom the best UFC card of the year.
UFC Middleweight Championship
Anderson Silva (No. 1 MW, No. 1 PFP) vs. Chael Sonnen (No. 2 MW)
It's interesting that Sonnen has worked the odds of this fight down so far. Put me in the camp of I will be cheering for who I want to lose least. I was put over the edge today by Sonnen's interview on Jim Rome this morning in which he denied saying that Lance Armstrong gave himself cancer, due to Steroid use even after Rome brought on the original interviewer and played the audio to which he said that's not me the person speaking has a latino accent. I now hope that Silva clowns him, pounds him, and finds a third way to disrespect this joke.
*Heard this the other day: In reference to some of his views "Chael Sonnen may not like lying on his back with a man between his legs; but he's going to wind up like Tyson Griffin with his face down and a** up asleep."
Jon Fitch (No. 2 WW, No. 5 PFP) vs. Thiago Alves (No. 3 WW)
Dana White announced at the press conference that the winner of this match will face the winner of St. Pierre vs. Koscheck. And Dana stated emphatically that Fitch would face Koscheck if both won.
Clay Guida vs. Rafael dos Anjos
This fight will be action from bell to bell. Not sure who will come out on top; however, whether dos Anjos gets coaxed into a standup battle, or it goes to the mat I cannot wait to watch it.
Matt Hughes vs. Ricardo Almeida
Almeida will try to avenge the loss of his mentor. Not really a lot riding on this fight; but it'll be an interesting bout nonetheless.
Junior dos Santos (No. 7 HW) vs. Roy Nelson
Although not official the winner of this match may also be first in line for the winner of Lesnar vs. Velasquez
Dustin Hazelett vs. Rick Story
The return of McLovin'!!!! Really hope this fight gets on the PPV, and with Dustin's BJJ skills it is a distinct possibility.
Phil Davis vs. Rodney Wallace
This shows that all was going right with this card. Wallace was originally scheduled to fight Stanislav Nedkov. Nedkov had to pull out and in comes Mr. Wonderful, who is one of the absolute best interviews in MMA. Listen to his interview with Jordan Breen on Sherdog it is really funny. You never mess with a man who has stabbed his brother with a fork before.
Johny Hendricks vs. Charlie Brenneman
Stefan Struve vs. Christian Morecraft
Tim Boetsch vs. Todd Brown
Ben Saunders vs. Dennis Hallman
