UFC 143: Diaz vs. Condit - Feb. 4th

I think the refs called it right. Condit avoided all but 1 take down, he didnt let diaz control him agaisn the cage. He didnt "run" from him, he avoided him. He landed more significant shots. He didnt play Diaz's game, and kept his cool.

Condit aced the exam, he studied Diaz, and didn't get baited or trapped and beat him at the game he wanted to play. Nick couldn't adjust.

The two judges that scored the fight 49-46 gave round 5 to Condit. Can't get on board with that. A fair score, but not that way.

$65K Bonuses: Knockout of the Night: "Wonderboy" Thompson; Submission of the Night: Dustin "The Diamond"; and Fight of the Night: Werdum/Nelson.

I agree that Condit won the fight, however, disagree on 49-46, and that he won the 5th round. I saw rounds 2 and 5 in Diaz's favor, and round 1 was so razor thin, that I was referring to it was 50.01% / 49.99% for Condit when spoke to Jon and Gord about it.

That being said, I don't really blame Condit for what he did Saturday night. Smart fight. I'm happier today that he's champ than Diaz is "retired."

GSP tweeted a couple moments ago that he still wants to meet Diaz in the Octagon...so...who knows what the future holds? I'm sure he'll be back. Diaz is so concerned with money that the payday the UFC offers him will be too enticing to turn down.
