The Silva/Leites fight sucked, it sucked so much everyone was chanting GSP.
Even though he won, thats not the way to break the consecutive wins record

at the conclusion of this fight as my friends and i slammed back some beers and rushed to cab it out to the bar to make up for lost time....
......we all wondered why we had purchased this horrific UFc PPV event...
JUST BRUTAL!!!

Time for Chuckie to hang em up and not a moment too soon. Can you tell I am not a Liddel fan? I have preached his overratedness for years and not with the crop of younger, more complete fighters from TUF, and Pride he has been exposed as the paper champion he was. At least IMO.

As for Silva/Leites, it was another lame fight as Silva has NO competition. You had to know AS was going to win without watching.

I can see your point that Chuck may have been overhyped somewhat, but he was no more overhyped than Shogun was. And to say that he was a paper champion isn't really fair. He beat everyone put in front of him until Rampage. Since they just had the fight and (for a time) were considered the two best light-heavyweight fighters in the world. I'd say that the overall level of Chucks competition was just as high, if not higher, than Shogun's. What has happened is we have seen Chuck's skills deteriorate at an extremely rapid pace. It doesn't mean that he was never that good. It just means that he got "old" fast.

Paper champion might be a bit strong. I just think, at a time when Pride had arguably the best LHW's, Liddel had minimal "elite" LHW competition during his title runs, save for Couture.

As for Shogun, I never said he was or wasn't overrated. Shogun is alot younger and has definitely less experience than Chuck, I think his hype is derived from his potential vs. his record.

I didn't mean to insinuate anything from you about Shogun. I just think that it is possible to draw a comparison between the two because they were one, two at a certain point in time. I would beg to differ as to why Shogun may have been overrated. I think that a lot of his hype came from whom he was beating, the thing is he was fighting a number of the same people as Liddell.
