UFC Announces 2012 Return to Brazil, and 100,000 seat Sambadrome

Lorenzo announced it yesterday. They'll be going to the city of Manaus in the Brazilian province of Amazonas. They're expecting a new attendance record to be set at the show.

Strange choice of venue. Judging by a lot of the comments I've read elsewhere and on Sherdog, it seems like Manaus, while a large city by population, would be kind of the equivalent of having a large event like this in Saskatoon...it's just kind of...out there.

But would a show at Taylor Field not sell out in less than half an hour? The demand is going to be there. And it seems as though one of the other reasons that they've selected Manaus is because it is representative of a different part of Brazil that most people may not be familiar with.
