Could Chara be into some trouble here? Max Pac takes a bad bad hit...was there intent to injure? I dont think so, but Chara is looking at 5 and a game misconduct

I am praying for Max that he is ok. Never like to see this, as much as I hate the Canadiens, its just terrible.

Can someone help find the video?

No match penalty....ugly ugly hit...not happy one bit. Not a good day for hockey. I'm embarrassed by that hit

Not sure if there was intent, but just a stupid thing to do with 15 seconds left in the period with the puck down the ice.

He regained consciousness after being out for a few minutes, but I didn't see any movement at all, but that could be the doctors telling him not to move.

Scary, scary thing to see.

It was definately a late hit...I just think its a lot worse because of where it happened. I think Chara could have let him get by, but didn't think he'd send Pac flying into that beam

Man that was very bad !!! He could've killed him. Max Pac was one of our best players and his carreer might be compromised.. I really hope Chara will be suspended for a good number of games. Very vicious hit.

If it was intentionnal, it's almost an attempted murder, he hit his face so hard.

He almost killed him ! He will probably be injuried for the rest of the season.

I don't think it was intented, but Chara should take care, he's 7' tall, he should'nt hit players like Max as hard. I mean a bodycheck in the corner can be okay but at full speed it's like a Ford Ram hitting a BMW Smart !

Wowwwwwwwwwww.
What a ugly vicious hit by Chara!!!

Pacioretty shifted him so easy that he had to make some interference on him at a very very dangerous place.
Chara knew what he was doing...

I hope the league will do something this time...or maybe they prefer to see a hockey player die in the rink before doing their job.

Late hit, 15 seconds left in the period, Bruins down 4-0. Don't tell me there was no intent there by Chara.

He's a pretty dirty player in his own right with his stick work, cheap shots and late hits. This is no surprise to me. He just gets away with it because no one can really do anything.

I don't condone suspension based on the severity of the injury but on the action itself and the action itself is nothing more than a late hit, and you could argue intent to injure based on the circumstances.

I hope one day Chara gets his

Nice...wish injury on another player. We will see what the NHL dishes out on this one. I hope there are reprocution for the accident. However, I wouldn't go so far as to say Chara is dirty. It was just a bad location. I doubt he was trying fo plant Pac into that pole.1ft further down the ice and we'de be looking at no more than an interference penalty.

Update: He has movement in his arms and legs, and has regained consciousness. Thank God

I have absolutely nothing to add about the hit, as I did not see it yet. However, this is an off base thing to say. You should not pull up because hes a little guy. You hit him hard, clean, but just as hard as anyone else.

EDIT: I just watched it. That has nothing to do with how hard he hit him, its were he hit him. Viscous hit, but I cant see how theres intent to injure. He was flying by him a lightning speed and Chara was trying to defend and run him into the boards. He just caught the glass in a very bad spot. Hope hes okay.

Like I said, 15 seconds left, the puck is way gone, the score is 4-0 and Chara has had it in for Pacioretty since the incident in the last game a couple months back. You tell me for one second Chara didn't know where Pacioretty was along the boards in the rink, and that rubbing him along the low boards up against the turn buckle was just a untimely hit in a bad location... I find it really hard to believe.

No, Chara isn't dirty in the sense that he delivers late hits from behind head first into the boards or sticks out his knee or swings his stick like a sword, but the guy will be the first to take a swing at anyone in his vicinity regardless if there is nothing brewing, cross check someone before anything really develops and has no qualms throwing a punch when the refs have already intervened (see Ivanans).

the outcome is unfortunate. but i dont think Chara was thinking "Hey let me run him into the stanchion." If the hits one foot earlier or later its a simple penalty. Maybe its time that the arenas look at ways to make the rinks safer.

anyone remember this hit by Johnson on Smyth....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjb9Xy2UnWc

similar hits with similar results. what did JJ get?

found another link to the Chara hit.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-9is4_3NmF4

I'm not condone the hit...it sucks, we are losing one of the best defenders in the NHL for a little while possibly. But Chara has never done anything like this. So to jump on him like a goon is a bit much.

Not quite true. You can't nail someone as hard as physically possible as long as it's construed a "clean hit." The rules are up for interpretation but the player delivering the hit has the responsibility to make sure before he applies the hit the player is not in a vulnerable position or area of the ice. In this case Pacioretty was in a somewhat vulnerable position in a DEFINITELY dangerous part of the ice

LOL you're telling me Chara never uses his stick to clear the crease or start a fight? Deliver a shot to the head? wow, you're certainly blind. And go watch the Chara/Ivanans fight and tell me that he didn't punch the guy while he was down and both refs were on him

Chara went to have words with Pacioretty after his OT goal back in Jan.

Kevin

He had words with him??? That's it...there's your intent! Really? Everyone on Boston has had words with everyone on Montreal. Vise versa...doesn't mean he comes back with inteng to kill him. If chara had intent to hurt Pac since the last game, it would have happened sooner than 2 full periods

I didn't say that...I said he's never driven someone onto theturnbuckle like this. All of a sudden chara is going to be made out to be this huge goon. Don't act like chara is alone on this. Half of montreal does the same.
