Registered Trader,
This is a really exciting mailpost for me, you will see why with my #1 star. But I'll start off a little slowly to work up to my big pickup.
First up are a few upgrades for some rather plain swatches I had.
This one is a new pickup for my set. It brings me to 43/54 for just about 80% completion.
Now onto some more Betts pickups: These are all extras that I've been nabbing off ebay:
I picked up a lot of 03-04 Private Stock base and retail cards. To be exact, the lot contained 33 of the retails and 16 of the base.
Here's my second OPC Rainbow parallel from 06-07.
My third 03-04 Private Stock Blue:
My second auto:
And a bunch of Micromotion Parallels from this year... I now have 7 out of a possible 100 of them with a few still trickling in.
Now for the main reason for this mailpost. My #1 Ultra Mega-Star if you will: I really have to give a big thanks to Keith (kdema). He contacted me after I made my first Betts mailday here and let me know that he had this card. A few PM's of negotiation and the card was on its way to me. I had to give up a centerpiece of my Lundqvist collection, a few Hasek autos, and some paypalage but it was all worth it. Thanks again Keith!
Serial #'d 02/05:
While I am nothing short of elated at picking it up, I can't help but feel guilty. I've been after Betts' cards for just under a month and I was already able to land the toughest card ever made of him. Other player collectors with a card in this set know how difficult they are to find. Keith told me he watched a Cheechoo go for over $300 before he even made it to the NHL. I know 19Richards has been after one since its release 10 years ago without even a sniff. So to those of you who have not yet found one, keep looking, you never know. I appreciate how difficult it is to locate them even though I was able to get one so quickly.
This brings my Betts collection to 22 of a known 28 cards, or just under 80% (like my Debut Patch set). You can view my whole Betts collection here... http://s111.photobucket.com/albums/n126/nyrtfleury014/PC/Blair%20Betts/?start=0
I'm also throwing around the idea of collecting Colton Orr. As of right now he only has 16 cards with no real toughies (except the HG parallel when UD2 comes out soon). We'll see, just a thought for now. As always, if you have any Debut Patches I need, or any and all Blair Betts cards, give me a shout.
