Upper Deck CoA?

and from me it's normal, that memorabilia is getting faked all the time and the most COAs are crap. But from about the 12 minute they are showing an Upper Deck baseball card... :|
So what's your opinion to this?

That Ruth fake was a big story some time ago. I think everyone realizes it is near impossible to trust 90% of the stuff on the market. Some authenticators get a reputation pass on their name alone though. How many people in this hobby would think twice seeing a UDA, Steiner Sports, PSA/DNA COA on something? I know I used to automatically assume this is the genuine article. Same with licensed pack pulled cards. A good portion of these are likely never signed in the presence of a card company rep. Some could not be genuinely signed by the athlete at all. Who knows?

Yes it does make someone skeptical about almost everything, but unless you are in this as a business it really doesn't impact too hard on the average person. The whole hobby is full of potential black marks.

Very interesting piece... and opened my eyes. Thankfully I don't do any baseball/football stuff and I don't think the hockey market is big enough for the big forgers out there, but I'm sure some of the little guys do dabble. Bottom line is buyer-beware... if you don't see Gordie Howe sign it, don't buy it unless you're 100% comfortable with the fact it might be fake.
