Any ideas why the prices for UD Series 2 for 2010-11 have risen between 15-20% since the release earlier this month? Is this typical?

I talked to my hobby shop owner, and she said that Upper Deck is "short printing" the cases for the set. That can't be right, can it? She said that she's getting charged $70 per box just to get them in!

If anybody out there has any ideas, would love to hear them! Was hoping to crack a case, but not going to spend between $800-$900 for it, that's for sure! Hoping to wait for a return to low $600 levels, but at this point is that a pipe dream?

:foottap:

Upper Deck is SOLD OUT already. Every supplier in our area cut preorders to LCS's that I know of. Production was cut by ALOT

That being said, retail releases this week. There will be a TON of that available

So here's my question: should I be patient and wait for a hobby case to be priced right, or face the music and pony up some of my good ol' Uncle Sam tax refund $$$ to get the case now?

As was mentioned, production appears to be cut by about 50%. Cases have been yielding unheard of value for Series 2. Couple that with the Canadian Wholesale Cartel and voila.

At the Toronto Card Show this past Sunday I overheard positive statements about UD2 from dealers and collectors alike. That's all I know.

Last years series two was also cut (one Exclusive per box and about one HG per case), but this years stuff is loaded.

We hear this same line of horseflop on many a release. It's an empty claim used to whitewash truly shameful pricing and supply practices.

I see blowoutcards and DACW.com is around 75.00. But they have no cases...Think I may have got it a little cheaper since I preordered...I still have not opened up the 3 boxes I have ...not sure what I am waiting for..should try and do it tonight.
I really need to start to put together the base sets right away and get rid of the rest here....have WAY too may singles from the past 13 years or so

My distributor last week said that they were supposed to produce 2000 cases but UD called all distributor to let them know that they cut short the production and they produced only 700 cases instead of 2000. But all the inserts etc, was done for 2000 cases and all inserted in 700 cases instead. So you get more ''case hits'' etc.. That's why the price is higher.

1300 cases less, it's enormous.

Hope that helps!

Went to show with 4 boxes of stuff, came home with nothing but jersey's
YG went first then the retro's then my Orr's
It's been a while since a product flew that fast

Now I don't feel so bad about paying 90 bucks for my first box of UD series II. I have one more coming for a much better price :) That will be my last one of the season.

I know nothing about how much was made/not made but I will say I've bought 2 blasters and they both had more value than normal. Pulled an Orr header and Fowler Jersey out of one and a Victory Black out of the other. Odds on all of them were 1:480 and up. The black was 1:780. Beat the odds? Sure looks like it unless the stated odds were based on a higher print run.

Alex, doesn't 700 cases sound like a ridiculously low number for such a widely collected product. I mean, I'm just some peon and I ordered two cases to start and have another coming.

Maybe they threw all the effort into making retail.

All I can say is I open 2 boxes and a half, pulled four UD Exclusive /100, 1 Exclusive Spectrum /10, One 20th Ann. SP, six Victory Gold and one Orr 20th Ann Parallel Auto. Didn't pull any inserts beside the Orr Hockey Heroes, though. YG and GU were pulled according to previsions.

I put all the stuff I didn't need for trade on boards friday afternoon. 24 hours later, EVERYTHING have been traded or sold on 11 different transactions.

In five years, I have never seen an Upper Deck product so loaded and so sought after (beside the Crosby RC year).

I have to beat myself very hard not too order two more boxes...

700 is pure horse puckey. Series 1 was around the 4000 case mark which puts series 2 at around 2000 for hobby based on cases yielding approx double what they normally do.

Well, let's just look at the number of exclusives pulled per box: average 2. If that's the case, 25000 cards means 12500 boxes which is just over 1000 cases
